Original Battery
This weekend I stopped by my local Batteries Plus to pick up a battery for one of my watches. While I was there I decided to have them load test my battery in the vette as I am still running the original in my 07. It's still holding strong according to the guy there, 660-680 CCA. Pretty surprising for a car that's so hard on batteries and that is 7 years old now.
The best part of the stop was the expression on a little boys face when I pulled up. He must have been around 7 or so and his jaw just dropped when he saw my car. His expression was priceless. Like my car was the coolest thing he had ever seen. Something tells me he will be a future vette owner.
His dad must have been checking it out too because he tried to start his car that was already running.
How long have some of you made it on your originals?
Will probably replace mine next year just to be preventative but then again I thought I would do that this year too.

The original in my '01 lasted 4 years.
In my '07 the HUD presets started to reset to default on their own at just over 4 years. Knowing what that meant, I replaced the battery and it never happened again.
I'm expecting the battery in my '12 to last longer since I've had a high output alternator installed since the car was new (constant 14.7v when running), but if it makes it to 5 years I'll most likely replace it on my own before it gets to 6.
All 3 were my DD and my only car.
Just pay attention to your HUD. If the presets ever revert to factory default when you haven't disconnected the battery, get a new one before you get stranded

I can't recall what cause prompted my replacing about a year ago, maybe like what Mark said above. But mine lasted about six years which is good as far as I'm concerned. I believe it also has something to do with number of starts and how it's maintained, i.e., with a maintainer.

7 years 5 months in the southern heat so far and the voltage drops a little further right after starting but still fine. The secret is to never let it discharge any more than necessary. Always keep it on a tender when not driving. Also never add water unless the battery is fully charged and the level is still low. Although I spend most of the year in the heat I have never needed to add water.

January 2, 2015 mine will be eight years old. I just replaced the battery in my Avalanche that was six years and 5 months. Although they are rarely driven, the tender is the reason and I also believe that night time driving adds more stress on a battery. I have had great luck with Delco batteries for over 30 years (even in my boats), no reason to change now.

Just replaced the original one in my '09 a couple weeks ago. It seemed fine one day, and was totally dead the next morning. Got a Platinum from AutoZone.

I replaced my original and put it in another car (a 1969 with no electronics running in the background), and after 9 years with a battery tender it's still going strong.

Kind of what I was thinking which is why I asked them to load test it. Figured that would show if it was on it's way out or not.
I will replace it next year regardless.
Impressive that it's lasted this long with no tender. I take it you drive it often to keep it charged up.

I am still on the original Delco also..I have an 07. Been using Ctek for the past 5 years when I store the car in the winter.
Checked the battery capacity with a digital battery analyzer tool I got from Harbor Frieght last week and it is still showing 88% good. States in the analyzer manual the range of 80%-100% the battery is in good condition.
I just may replace it regardless next season just to be safe.

My '07 still has the original battery. It tested fine also, but it does concern me a little with the age. It has been on a battery tender for quite awhile, maybe that's helped it a bit.

My '07 Delco lasted 6 years and at that point I replaced it because I live in the boonies and didn't want to get caught somewhere...but it was still load testing good at that point. If I lived in a big city and drove close to home, I would have enjoyed seeing how far it would have gone, but even Costco is 100 miles away.

Anywhere from once to two or three times a week to the office which is 50 mile round trip commute and mostly at highway speeds. Drove it this morning after a week and there was some pull on the battery to get the engine started. It will eventually die but not yet.
