Best C6 to purchase
I know there are opinions regarding the best C6 to purchase.
That all said: We are looking for a nice C6 vert with auto, no mods.
Interested in which year we should focus on, improvements come with every new year. No rush to purchase, we plan on keeping our 03 C5 AE. The right C6 will come along.

For buying new, get a 1LT trim as the lack of options doesn't seem to affect resale demand just so long as you get a Z06 or the Z51 perf package at the very least. Everybody will pay for the go fast options, but 6 years down the line the price difference between 3LT and 1LT is slim if the mileage and condition are right. Bonus points for a manual trans because only 25 pct of vettes come with them anymore and the demand will be higher for them. Not sure about the new 8 spd auto about to come out in the C7, but for the C6's and down, the manual sells quicker in many cases.
for buying used- of course get a nicely appointed one because they sell for the same prices as 1LT's very nearly.
2008 was the mid-cycle refresh year with a new engine and trans for the coupe and darker interior trim that is more popular.

Simple enough - pick your favorite colors - inside & out plus maybe a 2nd choice - & wait.
Lots of used cars out there - if not now then the next week.
Don't settle - cause that only leads to regrets later.
Good hunting!

Derf, you don't mention your budget???
Without knowing that, how can anyone recommend a particular year, or model?
To me, the most common sense rule of thumb is to always strive to purchase the latest model year, with the features you want, that your budget will allow.
Can't go wrong. Good Luck!

Budget? That's a funny word when I was looking I had a budget of 25 to 28,000.00 for a higher mileage c6. When I was at the dealer looking at what they had I did not see anything as we where leaving a Porter pulled my now car out of the back lot. I loved it and had to have it blew my budget by 20 grand. I guess when you know it is the one it's the one!!

Pretty much any C6 offers top value for the dollar if its priced reasonably. You get what you pay for, whether its a 2005 with 50k miles or $25k or an as-new 2013 GS for $50k. My pricing examples may not be exactly on the mark, but close enough to give you an idea.

Okay, okay, I wasn't going to say this, but all this talk forces me to reply...
Derf, since you asked in your OP,...here's my suggestion for the best C6 you can buy.
That would be a 2013 Grand Sport, Blade Silver, Heritage Package with Cyber Gray Hash Marks, 3LT, NPP exhaust system, w/Black wheels, headlamp buckets, and gill badges.
And, oh yeah, stay away from the girly transmission.
Be sure to get it with an M6 box.
If you see the shifter on the right, run as fast as you can.
Hope this helps!
