Default Exhaust Plate Cover

I made my exhaust plate cover from stainless steel and painted it black. The Jake emblem was purchased at the NCM anniversary last month.
I was wondering if the black decal of Jake was a little too much and do you guys think it would look cleaner if I removed the black decal on the left side?

Ben

The exhaust plate looks great. I think you should remove the black decal. Two of the same is a little overkill.

I did leave the C6.R lettering.

Peace, Ben

You wouldn't happen to have the dimensions for your exhaust plate. I tried to fab one up but I never could bet it to fit right. I made mine out of .050 2024-T3 ALCLAD Aluminum.

I used a scrap piece of stainless steel that was left over from decorative trim for large motor home. I didn’t keep any sizing dimensions. I measured using light card board sheets as a homemade jig. I had to keep holding up the cardboard, checking my marks and cutting it to size. After I cut the stainless steel, I needed to file/cut to fit. It turned out nice tight, strong fit. I don’t think it was necessary but I did use a small 1”x8” brace that runs up the back of the plate and attaches to the steel frame above. I used industrial double sided tape to attach the brace to the back of the Jake plate. It was fun to make but no diagrams available. Seems a little crazy when you can buy one but that’s me (little crazy).

Peace, Ben

Did you attach the exhaust plate to the Muffler Hangers like the ones that you can buy or did you attach the exhaust plate itself, via the 1"X8" brace to the steel frame above the mufflers? I was trying to fab mine up just like the plates that you buy and I never could get the dimensions down. The plate was way too tight and I couldn't get it to sit in the hangers. When I filed a little off the mounting tabs the plate would just fall out with it just idling.

I made my ends wide and long enough to fit the plate ends under the hanger brackets on the side near the steel frame. I loosened the muffler hanger bolts and slipped the plate between and tighten down the hanger bolts. The brace only made it more stable. I don’t see a problem with the way I did the installation. Seems like everything I do take time and patience. I kept the Jake part covered with tape until I completed the install. It looks and works great. Nice tight fit.

I'll keep and eye on it for a while ....
