Optima battery in a 2007
My last AC Delco battery gave up after only 3.5 years so I decided I wanted an Optima battery since I've read good stuff about them here. But when I looked on their web page and put in the info for my car it didn't look like they had it listed for the 2007 Vette. They had it for the 2008 though. So I went to Sam's Club and they looked in their book and it agreed with that. It just had a dash for 2007 but it said the group 35 would fit the 2008.
So I bought it anyway and it fit in my Vette just fine.
So why isn't it listed for the C6 prior to 2008?

The prior post is correct, you will have to remove the battery to change the cabin filter.
I have had far better luck with the Delco batteries in my vettes than the Optima batteries. You will find that if your Optima ever goes dead you will have a very tough time reviving it even after you follow the very convoluted process that is required.
If your Delco battery was only 3 1/2 years old it was still under the 6 year Delco warranty. When I finally replaced my 5 year old original Delco in my 2007 I replaced it 3 years ago now with the Delco Professional that only ran $85 at my local Chevy dealers parts department.

Just shows you how marginal battery performance can be... I have always had much better luck with the Optima yellow top than the Delco factory batteries. I think use of battery tender, daily driving and temperature extremes all play a part in battery life. Take care of whatever battery you use and it will last much longer.

I do not like to mess with battery tenders and never have owned one and sometimes I have had as many as 3 vettes at the same time so it was not unusual for them to sit and be not driven for a week or two and never had any problems with the Delco's.
Even with the extreme heat here in Arizona the Delco's have lasted me 5 years or more and on my 86 Pace car convert that I owned for 18 years I had only replaced the Delco batteries twice during that entire time.
I put a Optima in my 2001 convert when it was time to replace the Delco battery because of the concern for an acid leak taking out all the wiring and computer electronics that were located below the battery in the C5's. The Optima only lasted 18 months before it died and would not take a charge.

I have found over the years that battery life is more related to driving conditions/use more than the battery brand itself as long as it's a top tier battery. I have personally had outstanding service from Delco batteries (OEM and replacements). My 07 is still on the OEM and my Avey lasted 6.3 years (just replaced). the CTS is on the OEM @ 3.4 years...FWIW. Good luck.

I have always used OEM batteries and haven't had failure or be stranded in my Corvettes over the years.

The battery posts on the MY2007+ are forward or aft on the battery?
On the 2005-06 the posts are forward.
BTW, I use the Optima Yellow Top on my 05 and works great and you can remove/change the cabin filter without removing the Optima

My factory Delco died at 21 months. I replaced it with an Optima RED top. I replaced it when it was 5 1/2 just because I didn't want any battery problems. It was still going strong. I replace it with another RED top. It is now two years old and have had no problems. I only drive three miles to work which is very hard on batteries. I have a YELLOW top in the family auto.
