Default Bottom Scraping Driveway

I don't have a very inclined driveway but my Corvette scrapes slightly when pulling out (but not when pulling in). Any tricks to avoid this? Air pressure in stock front tires is at 27/28, does it need more?

30lbs cold and try pulling in at a 45 degree angle. As long as it's the plastic 3 piece air deflector underneath, you're OK.

If you have magnetic ride suspension, try putting it in the sport position. For some reason mine doesn't scrape in sport, but it still does in tour. Also, like Rich Mickol said, if it is just the three piece plastic air dam, it is designed to take the scraping.

The angled approach (and departure is the key for me). Think of it this way. When you enter the driveway at an angle, one wheel starts climbing the hill (and raising the whole car) before the other wheel (and the air dam) get to the driveway. By the time the air dam would have scrapped, you'll have the front of the car already lifted. Typically, you can avoid almost all of the driveway scrapes once you've got that angle figured out.

Backing out is a bit trickier....for me if I cut the angle out sharp and end up with the rear of the car about 3 feet from the curb once I'm on the street I can avoid the scrape on my driveway.

As stated, your pressure is definitely too low. I actually had to go to 32 F&R and now no more scraping. I'm fine with a little extra air to avoid the scrape. Good luck.

45 degrees going into driveway, damn near 75 degrees backing out! Air pressure @ 32 cold. I agree with gentleman above that you should pay no mind essentially as long as it is ONLY the 3 piece chin deflector...this is a cheap and easy part to replace. I have a Koni FSD suspension w/ Z51 option and I scrape so much I just accept it as I sit pretty low after the new suspension.

The trick is GET USED TO IT.
It's just the plastic air dam...I just consider it a "scrape alert" before I really start scraping the expensive stuff.

^you got it...the sound of plastic rubbing is not an unexpected phenomenon. You will know when you bang off something significant.

If you have a splitter (Z06 or GS), don't take it at too extreme an angle, or you will put it in danger. The air dam is meant to be sacrificed, but not the splitter. If you hit the splitter, it can take chunks out of the bumper at the clips.

It's a fine line, but err on the side of saving the splitter, if you need to make the choice.

That's what I do put in "sport" mode with tires up to 35 PSI.

Mine scrapes too. I consider it a wear item. Backing and coming in at an angle much reduces the scraping. Also I agree, In sport mode it doesn't scrape as much. Of course I'm 95 % of the time in sport mode.

The angle thing does help.

I will be flamed for this, but I ended up raising the height adjustment bolts. About 2 turns cured it for my driveway and neighborhood tank traps.

I living in NYC and have the same problem. I just put a 2 ft 2 by 6 under the front wheels and take it nice and slow. I went as far as having my driving re done which help a very little...

I've been scraping my driveway for three years. I've gotten used to the sound, and so have my neighbors. They always know when I leave for work or arrive home.

I look under the car from time-to-time, and the plastic air dam is just fine.
