Default Heads up display

Can someone tell me why the heads up display speed differs from my speedometer? Ie. I can set cruise control which shows on the DIC and Heads up will be 3 mph lower than set cruise speed setting.
Does DIC get the speed from the Nav system or speedometer?

I've always noticed it's off by about 1 MPH (where the HUD reads 1mph lower than the speedometer). That's even the case when I set cruise control. I've tend to notice that the accurate speed is what you said cruise to (or basically what the analog speedometer shows).

Hope that helps. Why it does that I have no idea.

I don't look at the analog speedometer for comparison, but when I set cruise at 60 the digital readout does differ by 1 mph sometimes.

The HUD always rounds speeds down by truncating, while the DIC rounds correctly, ie: down if less than xx.5, up if more than xx.5.
