LS3 + supercharger = ZR1?
I know adding a supercharger to a c6 doest make it a zr1.
But adding, a super charger with supporting mods, ceramic brakes and magnetic suspension, rims and badges to a grandsport. = ZR1 basically. Minus the 120k msrp.
am I missing something?

Oil squirters, aluminum frame, additional coolers. Grand sport an auto? Need a dry sump then. There's a lot underneath that makes the ZR-1 quite the steal. This is coming from someone with a base C6 with a forged 416 with a blower and a built trans/Z06 rear. My car is quicker than a lot of ZR-1's but by no means as ready for the track. I'm sure others will chime in with all the other nice goodies a ZR-1 gets.

Supporting mods being...?
As far as the engine, it is essentially an LS3 with a forged crank, oil squirters for cooling, a dry sump, etc. Simply slapping a Supercharger on isn't the same as saying you've essentially got a ZR1.

You can have an open top and not so for Z06 ZR1 frame. Why the GS is the car to enjoy. Now the C7 Z06 better.

I got my GS planning to supercharge it and basically have the same/better performance as a ZR1 while still having the ability to take the roof off. Is it a ZR1? No. Does it have similar performance to a ZR1? Yes, 575RWHP while being very streetable and driving like stock car when I'm not full throttle.
I was able to get a brand new fully loaded 4LT GS with M6 (dry sump), MSRC, NPP both tops, Cup wheels (OEM) with PS2s in ZR1 sizes and the blower (installed) for about what used 2009 ZR1s were going for at the time. The big benefits for me was the GS was new, I love having the clear top, and I can take the top off if I want. The downside is I don't have the forged internals of the LS9, ZR1 brakes or the PTM. The forged internals aren't really that big a deal as there are a lot of blown LS3s making way more power than the LS9 while being very reliable, nor are the ZR1 brakes a big deal to me (the Z06/GS brakes are very good and a lot cheaper to replace consumables). I would love to have the PTM, but I really enjoy having the glass roof and being able to take it off, so for me the GS with blower was the better route.

Add to the above: Carbon Ceramic rotors in 15.6 inches with Brembo 6 piston calipers, Carbon Fiber hood, front fenders, roof, bow, splitter, side skirts, floor boards. Twin disc clutch, ZR1 specific trans and rear end, Full 3" exhaust, 20" rear and 19" front wheels with Michelin PS2ZP's stock. Magnesium front and rear cradles, magnesium roof frame.
There is a LOT more to a ZR1 than just a blower. They spent the money to reduce weight and it costs big bucks to do so with these materials. Plus they did all this to provide a warranty and 205 MPH out of the box!
I had a 11 GS 4lt manual dry sump coupe and I was going to slap a blower on it earlier this year. When I crunched the #'s, as the GS was tanking pricewise, adding $10K in blower did not make sense. I traded the GS on a ZR1 and put that $10K into a car that will hold it's value. I paid less than a new C7 base coupe for a 9000 mile supercar. Best move I ever did. Don't think that slapping a blower on a car makes it a ZR1 clone. It is a package, a well thought out and implemented package!

Why even talk about it. for $79K buy yourself a 2015 Z06 and you have everything and then some, plus a full warranty.

If I were buying today, no doubt I would go for a Z06. i didn't want to wait when I bought my GS over a year and a half ago, but if I were looking right now I wouldn't mind waiting a few months for what's going to be an awesome car with a great price.

Burning Brakes
Just got our npp exhaust installed on our gs today at the meineke by our house. It is connected to a motor home dealer. I was talking to them about the c6s and they said a dude traded in a 2011 zr1 with 15,000 miles on it for a motor home. I asked them how much they sold the zr1 and they said 56,000.. My jaw dropped. Point is wait a couple months and get a zr1 as the prices are already getting into the 50's

Your past posts have been amusing and my first giggle on this one was to suggest you need to add badges to make the car somehow better...no. Ceramic brakes? Yeah I got "em but you better stop (literally) before you worry how the brake dust builds up. You should re-evaluate the way you wanna go with mods. You seem to have a good platform, don't you now?
