No more sports car

74 years old here and I was apprehensive about giving up my 1984 Automatic for a 2013 manual 6 speed, thought an auto paddle shifter would be cool, man was I wrong, I'm having a blast with the manual 6 speed.

Did you know that the Ferrari does not come in a manual any longer. It is called the changing of the guard. The automatic duel clutch transmission is what you will be seeing in all high performance sports cars.

Just like any other speculation....Believe when you see it.
Just enjoy the choices we have now. Lot's of great cars available.
If that ever did happen, there are always going to be C6 and C7 garage queens with manuals that will be for sale one day. Just gotta find the right one for you.

Porsche also dropped the 6speed in the new line of 911's and porsche has always been considered the "driver's" car, so that just tells you where the market is headed. Audi is dropping the 6spd on the S-lines as well. Merc hasn't made a manual car in 8yrs and they're supposedly leading the way with technology advancement. No "supercar" is available in manual either. Shouldn't be long before the rest of auto makers follow suit.

unfortunately, in order to sell cars, you have to be able to compete in magazine number tests and benchmarks. the advancement of dual clutch transmissions has continually progressed, the performance numbers have gotten better, the fuel efficiency is better..
leaves us manual purists in a tough position. I will gladly drive the slower, less efficient transmission for the driving feel.. but as the above mentioned, every other high end sports car seems to be dropping it as an option all together. so long as we represent a large enough piece of the pie they will continue to appease us, but it may be cut out at one point or another.. just means we have to keep buying older cars to find our enjoyment
I'm only 29 years old and I didn't drive my first manual car until I was 25.. but there is no going back.

The manual shift is already being phased out of all high end sports cars and will be gone eventually in all cars. Chevrolet will most likely just follow their competition. It will actually be a much bigger adjustment in Europe, where the majority of the small efficient cars there are still manuals.
And some day all cars might be electric (or some other alternative fuel) with CVT type transmissions. All the current cars will be total dinosaurs.
Of course, according to the Jetsons, we should all be in flying cars by now.

I only drive on the street and Corvette is my choice for a work car/driver.
I am fine with an automatic.
I am done with the stick in a traffic jam.
I am sure it was hard for some of you to give up the crank phone and then when they changed away from rotary dial phones.
That new Note 4 is going to be impossible for you to manage.
Oh Well, GM is going in the right direction.

I guess all those race car drivers with automatics are not driving real race cars either.
Now many prefer manuals. Others only Autos, but make no mistake, Its still a sports car.

Well, quite frankly,FERRARI for one is doing away with all manual tranny cars so why not the Vette?? Technology being what it is,automatics are faster then manual tranny cars and also allow for "shifting manually" with the paddles. The new Z06 is faster with the 8 speed auto then with the 7 speed manual. It's the wave of the future I fear. I might just buy a miata stick down the road. Lmao.
