Keep in mind that the back end of a C6 is a huge parachute on the car when wind tunnel tested, and the concept behind the oem rear lower diffuser is to get air to funnel into the back void to try to fill it in to keep the air smoother as if existing the back.
Hence air resistance gains on the front of the car, are directly lost if the air car not exit out the back of the car as well, and just causes a pressure build up back to the front of the car.
In the case of the GT car, does not matter since the wing for down force will cause rear end turbulence build up anyways, so the concept it to just throw more HP at the greater rear parachute problem instead.
Note, the R8 gt car rear end is better at existing air flow smoother, and the reason that it's a faster car in the GT series over just motor alone.
