Default Anyone ever use AutoTrader or eBay to sell?

The time has come to sell my GS Convertible. I posted it on here in the for sale section... no bites. I assume it's due to the more narrow audience that frequents this forum.

Has anyone had any luck selling using it? What about eBay?

Wayne Carini ("Chasing Classic Cars") uses eBay, so why not give it a try!

Beware...autotrader, cars.com, eBay, etc generate a lot of scam emails.

Maybe its different in Texas, but this is now probably the worst 3 or 4 months to sell a convertible sports car in many parts of the country with winter coming. An SUV would sell better.

At this point might be better to hold it till Spring, unless its a local sale.

Sorry to say it, but trying to be helpful

Good luck.

I tried AutoTrader once and was very disappointed. The customer service was very poor. They did not respond to my communications. It was like no one was home... except to take my payment.

After one listing period with them I ended up selling my 1997 Camaro SS through other means.

I drove it to work with the top down this morning... In fact, I have done my Christmas shopping with the top down. Winter here is not too bad.

I bought my last 2 Corvettes for ads on Auto Trader. I think it's a great tool to find out what is available in your area.

Damn. Had to scrape some ice off my windshield this morning. And I'm only in Maryland. I gotta move South.

Your experience seems common... I have been doing some searching and I have seen others complain about Autotrader's poor customer service.

There's a trade off... Try us in July/August... You might miss the ice. LOL

Right now... it's very nice out, however.

I used all of the popular sites to sell my last two cars, but it was Craigslist which got all the action.

Found my C5 on Ebay back in 2003. We didn't do the transaction through Ebay though.

I look on Autotrader often. To be honest, people are beyond reaching in the for sale section on here. I tend to avoid it.

I bought 3 cars from autotrader and 2 from craigslist. Craigslist is a VERY good choice.

Ebay also has a classified listing section, not the bidding section. I have sold on Craigslist, Ebay.
I sold a motorcycle on Ebay classifieds.

didn't know about the ebay classifieds. good thing to know. I've used both cars.com and autotrader and just bought from an ad on the latter. craig's I've heard and seen but seems to be a lot of scams on there. again, time of year as said above is probably not great for a vert. the number of inventive ways to scam you, the seller, are too numerous but just remember the adage, if it's too good to be true....and trust nothing unless verified.

I have used EBay several times, but I am only interested in local,[ 250 miles ] vehicles that I can go see and they have to be "by owner". Craig's list is also a local marketplace, but cars are often misrepresented. There are a lot of con artists out there, be careful.

We had good luck selling the C5 on craigslist. We advertised it several large metro areas and found a buyer in a couple weeks.
