Default c6 issues

Hi All,

I have a 2007 C6 and i'v been facing issues with the car battery it gets drain whenever the car at a stop for more than 4 days i have changed 2 AC delco's so far the battry volt. is 14.1 at the time i connect the battery and while driving it keeps shiftting between 13.5 some times gets less than 13.00 and then goes up to 14 after a continues driving.

I kept the battery connected the other night and when i started the car the voltage was 12.00 had to drive it for 20 min and then it went up to 14.

i dont know whats exactly going on and what takes the battery's power when its at a stop.

can anyone share with me if anyone faced simiuler issues.

FYI,
i have cheked the alternator and its ok obviously its charging the battery.

I have an 07 and I saw the same thing about two months ago. I replaced the known good battery first. Batteries are always an issue with these cars.
Mine was not loosing charge while parked.
But in heavy traffic AC on, Headlights on, Driving lights on, the voltage would drop to 11.1. I would get the Low Voltage warning
A little gas and the volts would go up to 12v.
Next I replaced the alternator.
Comparing to two side by side the old alt. spun freely... like it was worn out and tired.
The new one was much tighter.
The car now idles(600RPM) around 12V in traffic with everything on and 14.1 at 1500RPM.
I bought a rebuilt one from AutoZone. It was an identical match of my original.
They had some rebates and discounts and I was able to loose the core charge and get free shipping.
I have my old Alt as a spare on the shelf.

How did you check the alternator operation? It would seem to be operating weakly.

If you have replaced the battery the alternator would be the first thing I would throughly check.

Also a load test on the battery would be prudent. A new battery could be bad.

Maybe the sensor is wrong if you are using the disc for the information.

Otherwise I have not read of any drain problems with the 07.

These symptoms sound like a loose connection, corroded connector, bad cable, intermittent short, etc. Trace the wires leading away from the battery, alternator, and starter to see if any connections are loose or corroded. If you have a volt meter you can check for voltage drops across cables to see if there's a sign of resistance. Look at wires where they go around metal to see if any insulation is worn away due to rubbing.

I am using an AC Delco battery from my local Dealership.
The new OEM Alternator was too much $$$.

If his 2007 is like mine, the wires are in perfect order under the hood.
Mine are in the same places as when the car left the factory.

My alternator was just tired of being in the car for 115K miles and all kinds of poor weather.
Alternators don't last forever. A rebuilt one cost less than a battery.

Thanks again mike
.........i dnt have any loose connector...and wires under the hood are just fine ....except after tracing the car electronics it appears that the BCM is taking so much of battry power when the car is at a stop...hopfully i will install the new BCM as soon as its arrived and i wil change the alternator just to make sure evrything is ok .
Regards,
Hussain

Alternators are tricky specially in the vettes, how ever i just trying to make sure before spending 250$ on a new one which we dont have it here and ordering will cost me a huge amount for shipping as its a quite heavy piece of metal
