Callaway Corvette...opinions/should i?!
Looking into purchasing an 06 callaway corvette 3LT
Car has 11.5k miles
What's everyone's take on these cars? And what's a fair price?

My take is if you want to buy a used blown Vette and don't want to pay ZR1 dollars, with a Callaway at least you will know everything was put together right. I have no idea on price, but you could buy an immaculate, factory stock low mile '06 and have an E-force installed for $x, so use that total cost as a comparison, logically the Callaway is worth a little more and likely would hold value better as well if left in "stock" Callaway specs.

The performance is there but if you can get past that awful hood & exhaust then go for it.

i was at a corvette car show earlier this year an saw a callaway for the very first time, an while it didnt look much different it was a bad ***. u dont see very many of those around, my guess would be a much higher price tag. 06 with only 11.5k miles averages out to less then 1,500 miles per year, i put more on mine per month an its not a dd lol. someone bought that car rarely drove it probably kept it in pristine condition in hopes of some day re selling it for top dollar. so unless they are in need of cash fast i would say plan on paying top dollar what ever that amount is. but u will be getting a more unique an better built corvette. goodluck

You can't go wrong IMO but I am somewhat partial. I wanted one for many years. They are unique and rare. Extremely well built and came with a GM backed warranty. A co-owner friend has a 2010 pushing 200,000 miles. Zero problems. I am on my 3rd, the first was a 2011 Callaway Camaro, great car but not a corvette. Saw an 09 Cyber gray low mile and went back the corvette vert. Then the anniversary 427 came out for the last of the C6. I pulled the plug as I am soon to retire. My military retirement check has supported my Corvette desires otherwise I would not have made the move. As for value, offer NADA plus 5k to start. Callaway is a rare beast and I drive mine as much as possible. On the interstates I have had cars pass me, slow down and out of the corner of my eye they had camera/cell phone taking picture. Many know it's a rare sight. You won't regret having one. Enjoy as I do mine.

"In honor of jpee"
While it was put together by a known and reputable co., when it's "used" you have no idea what else may have been done to it. And that which may have been done can potentially undo some of the careful and thoughtful methods of the original tuner, Callaway. In that case, it becomes like every other used car: you have to know what you're buying and have it thoroughly checked out and in this case by someone who knows Callaways. Otherwise, jmo, but then it's even more of a crapshoot than a stock Corvette.

No..The first three are factory cars. The Callaway can be one of those three with aftermarket items added on therefore it's not OEM so it's in a separate column to the right or left,as would be Lingenfelter and any other aftermarket "tuner".As for where it is in relation to the OEM PACKAGE,WELL,IT DEPENDS ON WHAT PACKAGE THE CAR IS.a 2lt FOR INSTANCE,IS STILL A 2lt BUT it's a 2LT with a whole lot of goodies added under the hood. Unless the owner did the whole works and got interior upgrades done...but the OEM paperwork will always be a 2LT.3LT ETC..As for the pecking order of aftermarket tuners, well, they are either #1 or # 1.5!!lol. I mean,LINGENFELTER is probably on the same scale as them for tuning mods to that degree,so they're on top of the list.More details on the car??Pics?? I saw CALLAWAY go over an auction block on TV a couple of years ago for what I thought was a friggin steal..low mileage car too.
I love my Callaway and it is the best handling and performing corvette I have ever owned (I've owned 7 corvettes).
For the OP, if I were interested in buying the car I would contact someone at Callaway to see if they have any information about the car, such as did they they do the performance upgrades.
