Default Hood no longer stays up

I noticed that my hood no longer stays up. What can I do to correct this issue?

You need to replace the 2 hood shocks. Very simple to do. Check Amazon. I got 2 for I think $30.

You'll need the length of the cylinder and the weight it's holding up. Any auto parts store will have them also.

Interesting because I just picked some up for mine today. I was trying to watch the harmonic dampener to see if it wobbles this morning, which it does, and the hood came down on me. Glad it wasn't a steel one.

I had that happen while swapping batteries. It didnt hurt much but the shock of getting hit in the back of the head while alone in the garage kinda scared the **** outa me for a few seconds.

Had to replace mine as well. Get someone to hold the hood while you swap them out. Only tool you should need is a flat blade screwdriver to pop the cap open.

According to the GM Parts Department part # for the struts, there all the same number from 2005-13
Part # 10399704
I would suggest replacing both struts, even if only one is weak, as the other will fail soon.

Autozone or advancedAuto will install them for you as a courtesy service. It is easy but salespeople are willing to do this for you.
