Default Totalled or Not ?

Hey all,

It is sad to see a beautiful corvette like this but the damage is done...
I lost control of her last night and hit crashed.
No one is hurt at all, on the bright side.

This is an 05 , 4 speed auto , LS2 car.
Z51 Package.
Was in mint condition.

Had the following ;

P1 PROCHARGER
CORSA SPORTS EXHAUST
19 Inch Alloy wheels.
REAR DIFFUSER
REAR SPOILER
LOWERED
CARBON FIBER INTERRIOR TRIM
STRIPES
JL AUDIO SUBWOOFER SYSTEM
KENWOOD IN DASH NAV/DVD SYSTEM

I added before and after pics.

Do you think it is totaled ?

How should I bargain with the insurance company ? ( Geico )

Should I remove the aftermarket goods before insurance seeing it ?

Never been in an accident before, just trying to see what my options are.

Should I but the car back if its totaled?

etc etc... so many questions in my mind.

Thank you for the help already.

I think you should go to the hospital, it sounds like you have a brain injury.

Well, if they don't, it will very close. Whenever the air bags go off, that alone is a bundle of $$ to replace.
I would guess at least 10K (insurance prices) in replacement parts. + labor of equal value.
If there is frame damage either front or back or both, then it will be a write off.

E-mailed the pics to a body shop, they said it looks like the frame is damaged

Geico will decide if it is a total. Ask them the salvage $$$ amount and then decide whether it is worth it to try to rebuild it, salvage the running gear/interior, buy a high mileage cheapie and swap parts, or take the money and run.
Good luck.

looks like it mgiht be a loss i buy it back and part it out. I also would remove all your aftermarket stuff as they will give you next to nothing for it and you will lose on it.

Since it's a 2005 it will probably be totaled. When the adjuster comes to inspect the car discuss with him removing the parts you want and he should be able to tell you how much removing a specific part will lower the amount they pay you for the car. Generally, removing parts only lowers the salvage price a very small amount relative to the price of the part. Then you have to make the decision as to whether or not it's worth the trouble.

Unless you have a rider on your insurance they will only pay you the value of the OE part.
You supercharger etc has no value so removing it should be no issue.
I would salvage everything I could off of it and sell.
I would be shocked if they do not total the car.
Sorry about the crash and glad everyone is ok!

chances are the aftermarket goodies are not covered/insured, either.. so prepare to take a bath on those. it may be in your best interest to get the car as stock as possible before it leaves your possession, so that if it's deemed total, you already have your parts, to either re-use or sell. note that most adjusters won't allow a car to come in with missing parts, it all has to be there.

If you can afford your insurance after this accident - let them write this one off & buy another!

Well if you were planning on striping it and selling some parts, I certainly wouldn't have put it on a public forum where they could see it with damage and what was on it. That my friend would be insurance fraud. Just my .02

not if he is putting it back to stock... specially if he did not insure the car for the extra parts. If he only insured it for a stock vette that is what they would be getting stock parts.
