Removal of center cap Tricks ???
I'm doing the axle nut R & R and wondering if anyone has a little trick up their sleeve on removing the center cap without pulling the wheel ??
Thanks

hmmmm I wouldn't advise that, just based on the way they install... you'd probably chip it and loosen the rubber seal at best if you were successful. you really need to do it from the inside of the wheel unfortunately.

I guess that's what I will do, pull them off, just did that a short while ago cleaning the wheels and brakes darnit. If process works at solving the popping noise then all's good.

Take a length of dental floss and work it in between the cap and the
wheel. A toothpick comes in handy for this.
Once it is fed all the way around make a loop / knot at the bottom
and pull.
Should be able to get it out far enough to get your finger between the
cap and the wheel.
Found this trick on the forum and been using it ever since.
Good Luck!

Go down to the seedy part of town (you know, the part where your wife doesn't know you go). Find a girls walking down the street who is willing to help. Have her use her mouth to suck a vacuum to the center cap, and remove the cap. Clean the caps off using lots of chemicals and gloves (don't want to catch the herp!). Remove your helper from the area before your wife finds out.
No but seriously I bet some sort of suction cup would work well for it.

This worked for me ... Remove one lug nut. Then pry up the center cap with a flat head screwdriver with a towel underneath to avoid scratches. There will be enough room there to work on the axle nut. Good luck!
