Default Tire/Track set up?

Im trying to find a set of rear DOT slicks for a C6 coupe. 285/35/19 size. Any tire that can help me get my 60ft down at the track. The car is all stock with a 100shot wet kit and my best 60ft is 2.1seconds with a 12.8 second pass in the 1/4. I launch around 1.5K-2K RPM and feather the clutch but still getting wheel spin. I currently have Firestone Firehawks. Im sure these tires aren't great at all. Any recommendations anyone? Thanks

If you are looking to find a drag slick that you can put on the car to drive it to the track, forget it, since you will end up stopping three times on the way to patch hole in the tires.

Instead, just put on a trailer hitch, get a small trailer, and trailer the race tires on rims to the track to swap them out there.

I found a set of MT ET streets. The size is 305/35-19. It shows that it fits a 10" wide rim. Do you know if it would rub the fenders if mounted to factory oem wheels? Here is a link.

The Tech @ M/T said their M/T tires would not work on a 6-speed manual trans. So I called Nitto and they said there NTO5 Dot Drag Radials would work with the manual trans so that is what I have on the rear of mine.I have not run them in the rain and to be honest won't drive my Vette if it is raining or going to,but if caught in the rain I would just drive the speed limit with no worry.I was afraid with the Drag Radials it would not handle well in curves, but if anything it is better it does not break the tires loose as bad. With the 19" rims you do not have much sidewall so I guess that is why there is no roll.

PS I am very happy with my Drag Radials!

I ran the 305/35/19's on my car before switching to a 17" drag pack. I also had them mounted on a factory 10" wheel with no problem rubbing the fenders. Before switching to the 17" wheels I had a best 1.55 60' / 10.32@135.

I think most of the drag guys go with the C-5 front wheel on the back of their C6 with Mickey Thompson's.

Wide body guys go with a wider rim. 19" isn't going to give you enough sidewall in the tire. I think you can also run a 16 inch wheel.. But 15 inch will rub the calipers.

If a 16" wheel would clear the calipers you would have more side wall and the drag radial would work better, but that would mean having to buy another set of high $$$ wheels and with the added side wall you would loose the handling of your car on the road.

PS I do not think you would want to go with a rim wider than 10" or you would have to change the back space on your wheels and your tires would be sticking out from under the wheel wells. I have a 10"wheel with the 305 12.3" wide tire and I have about a 1/2"-3/4" clearance on the inside and any wider and the tires would be sticking outside on the rear.

19 inch tires are very expensive. You would save some money and have a better setup getting a 17 inch wheel and tire setup. c5 z06 wheels or any reproduction 17x9.5 works. I run a 275/40/17 DOT hoosier DR on a reproduction c5 17x9.5 wheel. They both fit in the trunk too when I go to the track. 1.46 60 foot. 10.78@126.
