Default Tires

I just ordered a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports for my 08 Z51, $1,182.20. Is this a good price out the door?

Yes, I'd say very good. Did you get runflats or regular tires?

I bought regular tires. I'm going to give them a shot, trying to get a smoother ride. I went to Discount Tire.
It was a toss up between Michelin, Hankook evo2 and Conti DWS, I went with the Michelin because of all the Good reviews here.

Yup, good deal. Keep in mind that the runflat version can be almost $100 more per tire than the non. Now don't let them rip you for the install and road hazard.

You'll love them.

Yep thats a good deal....I can typically get close to that. What I do is show them prices for a set of 4 from tire rack and they will always beat the price.

Enjoy em!

So I went to Discount Tire today and had the tires installed, non run flats. The difference is night and day, hell I might just put the Z51 shocks back on. I now have a real comfortable ride in the Vette. A guy came in with a black 08 while my tires were being installed and he asked me what my thinking was as to non run flat tires and I told him, he ordered a set to be installed on his car tomorrow. How about that 2 08 Corvettes in one day, the salesman said it never happens and smiled.

Nothing outperforms the Pilot Super Sports...nothing...but they are not cheap. Best Value for a tire might be the Continental Extreme Contact DW's. They last longer than any tire and hook as good as the Pilot...or better maybe... but their Achille's heel is the damn sidewall. It does not provide the immediate linear feel on turn-in that the Pilot possesses. You could get some Bridgestone pole position S04's but the tread life means you might be lucky to have them last more than a year tread depth wise. just my 2 cents

I like how you ask "is this a good price?" AFTER you already bought them. Kind of like trying to unsee the fat naked lady after she walked past you. Too late now!

I bought the tires and was not asking for an opinion. I was just wanting to know if I got a good deal. I was not asking permission nor was I asking for anyones thoughts on my decision. Do you understand it now? I forgot that I need to keep my statements simple for some.

Don't feed the trolls bro, we understood you. Seem like a troll on every thread now. Didn't used to be that way multiple years ago...

I just bought a 2012 Grandsport that had some new Bridgestone RE11s I was going to scrap em as I always put on the Michelins but I read some really good reviews on them and allot of people like em.... Just an option for the future.

I paid $1,100.00 from Tire Rack 3 weeks ago - my buddy runs the sales department at Chevy so he hooked me up for mount, balance at a cost of $0...so I'd say you got a great deal

And yes these PSS's are awesome, I started a thread a while back on the topic of what to buy and all weighed in...PSS won, and I'm Super happy with them.

How come you didn't purchase run flats? Is everyone getting away from the run flats, because they make so much noise?

I wonder the same thing I may be looking at buying tires soon I assumed I would buy run flats but I'm starting to question this. Is it just the money or is there an additional reason. I would probably spend extra for the peace of mind but if there is a reason not to I'm good with spending less!

I did not buy run flats because of the ride....they suck as far as being comfortable, I could feel every little bump in the road, kinda like driving a Honda Civic.

Thanx So the definition of a Troll is someone just hanging around looking to start trouble?
I've read some good things about them also, let us know what you think after a while.

Oh yea I just went to the Discount Tire web site and it seems I get two rebates one for $60 and another for $70. One from Michelin and the other from their Credit Card company, can it get any better?
