The C6 427 'vert is the closest you'll be able to get from the factory...car has the steel frame from the base/GS cars,
not the aluminum frame from the Z06/ZR1 cars. Still, a fine automobile...

I got one that was built in Florida,,, ls7 convertible, c6 body style real happy with it,, but people kind of freak out that it's a ls7 rather than a 6.0 on a convertible, ,,,

An LS7 in a steel framed vert isnt a Z06.
The C6 engineers say that the Z06's aluminum frame isnt as strong as the base model's steel frame, and is NOT strong enough to live a long life without the top bolted in place. I believe them.
Will a Z06 break in half the first day/week/month or even the 1st year with the top brace removed? Most likely not. But it *will* fatigue and fail eventually, most likely at the worst-possible moment.
There *was* gentleman who was experimenting with extra bracing to try to make up for the loss of the top on a Z06, but I don't know the outcome of his trial, nor if he had the equipment to sufficiently fatigue-test his theories for long term durability.

There is a company that used to do the conversions. Or, you could buy the "kit" and do it yourself (all GM parts). They made an aluminum plate that attached to the frame for the added strength needed. They had a couple of cars at BJ 5-6 years ago. FWIW. Just buy a 427 vert....

My 427 ragtop is as close as you can get. Headers, exhaust, airbox, and a tune, and she's 500 horsepower to the ground. More than I need.

This is about as close as you can get to a Z06 Convertible in a C6....
