Installed Corsa extreme on my 2012 Grand sport A6.....
After reading so many reviews talking about how the Corsa extreme doesn't drone on the a6 I pulled the trigger. Got it installed today... And.. It drones. Its just slightly less than my npp was when left open. So im not particularly pumped about it. On the plus side, it looks fantastic. Not sure how long im going to run it.

Sorry to hear that. It sucks to spend that money and not be completely happy with it. Maybe you'll get use to it.
I'm still available for you to hear the Borla S-Type II if you decide to switch it up.

Have you talked w. Corsa directly (not the vendor)? What did they say? Are there any other mods to the car that might influence drone to occur?

I'm not familiar w. what the Corsa site says: does it say that the Extreme on your car with an A6 will not drone? If it does, or doesn't say anything about it, I'd call their tech and ask why it does on your car\--it could be something minor. If you're going by what was said on CF, that may be an issue not resolvable by Corsa. Suggestion: look at website FAQ

Yeah Corsa says they dont recommend the extreme for the a6. I went by several guys here on the forum saying that theirs had ZERO drone. They must need hearing aids because this isnt a subjective sound. It is heavy drone. Now granted, it is in a narrower rev range compared to the NPP left open. But it is definitely there and highly obnoxious.

However, the website does say there will be "no drone during cruise."
Well, all I can say is, hopefully, you can get most of your money back in a sale to someone and then get the sport or touring, or even another brand. Everything I've read is that for whatever reason there are some differences betw. auto and manual trans exhaust systems. Unfortunately, now you know first-hand.
I'd take ncvette up on his offer to see how his sounds.

I've heard the nonsense from guys on here about the "absolutely no drone" crap so a mistake can be made when you listen to the ones that generalize. With my original setup with Sport drone was mind bending. With my setup now and Xtreme I have drone in the 16-1700 range. It's acceptable to me. Corsa does state what is not advisable so that's what you should have payed attention to and paid much less attention to "guys on a keyboard".

I spoke to Corsa reps a couple years ago and they told me only the touring and sport were guaranteed not to drone. I had B&B Bullets on my car last 1 1/2 years, so I know drone! Put sports on last week and absolutely no drone on the hiway.

Is it actually drone or exhaust noise? After reading thousands of complaints on this topic I'm convinced most people just like a quiet exhaust, and there's actually no drone present, it's just loud. Personally I like a little bit of drone.
It should also be noted that that autos are far more likely to be in the drone zone than a manual.

Common sense says, an "extreme" exhaust designed for max power and loudness will have a high propensity to drone. That's why they make touring and sport versions.

The first mod for my 2013 was the Corsa Extreme. I do remember the website saying something about not being recommended for A6. Since mine is a manual, I did not worry about it. The company I bought mine from did ask if I had a manual tranny, so there is probably something to that. Maybe they will exchange it for you? Couldn't hurt to ask. Good luck. I have not noticed any drone on mine.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
My GS is an A6 with catted headers, and I was looking at something pretty quiet.
My car is now louder than it was before installing the headers. It is very loud when the NPP valves open.

EDIT: Nevermind ... I checked the Corsa catalog and they don't even make the "Touring" exhaust for the C6 anymore ... just the Sport and Extreme.

I believe the touring exhaust is simply the sport with additional mufflers or resonators in the mid pipe. To make it a touring exhaust you buy a different mid pipe. That "may" only be for 05-08 models though. Not entirely sure.

Between the Sport and the Touring, which would be quietest on the highway?

I would assume its the same with the C6.

The added mid section was the diff on Touring. The cans (Sport and Touring) were the same. I really never understood the Touring option, it was not much diff than the factory exhaust so I can see why they dropped it.
