National Corvette Museum Ceremony Marks Sinkhole Anniversary
The National Corvette Museum is planning a special ceremony to mark the year anniversary of a sinkhole that formed and swallowed eight prized corvettes.
The hole opened up when the Bowling Green museum was closed early on February 12, 2014. No one was hurt.
But the 40-foot-wide by 60-foot deep hole became a popular attraction for tourists, with visits to the museum increasing last year by 66 percent.
Security camera footage showing the floor's collapse has been viewed nearly 8.4 million times on YouTube.
In the fall, workers arrived to start plugging the hole. Repairs are still underway.
The museum has events scheduled Thursday afternoon to mark the year anniversary.
