Backup Camera Brake Light?

It would be easy enough for you to make your own.
That is actually a good idea.
You could drill a small hole then epoxy the camera bracket to the inside of the rear spoiler.
If you got a Z06 spoiler there would be more room to play.

That is a pretty good idea. I was looking at back up cameras today and my options were to put a license plate frame on (that looks tacky) or drill a 1/2 hole in the back of the car....
Didn't like either option.

That picture is from another member on here. It is a Crimestopper SV-6818 I believe. You can get it on Amazon and so forth. I ordered the same thing in a Boyo VTB123HD, it had good reviews.

Most late model cars come with them so as to not back over child and so forth. They are pretty handy actually. I live in Saginaw, Texas and a lady sat her baby down in the driveway, then sadly backed over it...

I'm putting a new stereo in the Vette and it has the ability for 2 cameras. I thought it would be a good idea to put on the front (so I don't accidentally hit parking blocks) and use the other in the back.
My friend has a car with cameras on both side mirrors pointing back....shows him the blind spots behind the car when he puts a blinker on. It's a great safety feature.

That's the reason I stated it would be good for. The vehicles I have also have front and rear sensers. Personally I prefer the sensers over the camera as it is useless 90% of the time. The screen can get washed out in direct rear sunlight.

You are forgetting about all the crud which gets stuck to the back of the car will also be all over the camera lens.
That is my only complaint with my camera.
I rarely wash my car so when I remember I wipe the lens when pumping gas.

I have two cameras on the rear of my car. Camera 1# flush to car right side of license plate. Camera 2# between reverse lamp on lower bumper. Hard to notice unless I point it out. Each camera cost less than $15 each. "China" ebay.

The two rear cameras are connected to my Pioneer AVIC 7000NEX Head unit. I can toggle between the two cameras when car is in reverse.
I have a third camera mounted in front of the car under the front nose in front of the wind deflector below the radiator. It's used for front parking to avoid front bottoming-out in parking lots. It's viewed by a separate monitor on the left side of dashboard.
It's triggered when car is rolling slower than 5 mph.
The 6-speed corvette has a solenoid-like device that keep you from putting the car in reverse at speeds higher than 5 mph. I tapped off the negative signal that energize that system to power my circuit that controls my front camera and monitor. I also have a red push button toggle switch to kill the system if the monitor is turning on too much in stop and go traffic. Its located near the dimmer switch.

Does anyone know of a solution for a back up camera that can use the existing factory NAV screen, or existing factory HID in an 08? I would love to have a back up camera, or sensors or both! I have them both in my other vehicle and love them.

I remember reading about a system that interface with your factory system. You needed to remove your head unit. Open it up to reveal the inner electronics. Unplug some ribbon cable that leads to your head unit's monitor. Plug it into this black box and plug the black box back into the location the ribbon cable came from. The black box had video & audio inputs to feed your factory head unit. I believed its no longer on the market due to the crash and burn of customer that attempted this modification.
