Both can easily be made to over power any street tire.

I was in the same position as you when I was actively searching earlier this year. I eventually ended up with a 2012 GS mainly because I worry a lot, so I'd always be worried about the heads failing on the Z. No regrets.
Just weigh out the pros and cons of each and see which one you rather have. Test drive both if you haven't yet. Good luck!

Newer GS with a blower, but then I might be biased.

i would go with the Z, but as other have said i may be biased. I wouldn't worry too much about insurance unless there is a shady driving record to worry about (not sure if you have tickets, or who's insurance the accident fell onto). I was only barely 23 when i got my Z had a clean driving history and only pay $130 a month for full coverage on my '08Z. Good luck either way, but get the Z

My point was a Z06 would've been significantly higher for me to insure than a GS.

get the Z and after your fourth or fifth ticket maybe you can trade for a really nice GS. lets face it, your 21 and there is no way in hell your going to drive your car like me and the other old farts on the forum. just some advice, be considerate with others on the road when you decide to open it up.

I like several others was in the same boat about a year ago and ended up deciding to go with a 2012 GS because A. I wanted the removable roof and B. knew that I wouldn't leave well enough alone and would be modding it shortly. The reliability of the LS3 is hard to beat and it responds really well to bolt on mods as well as forced induction. I'm currently putting 404 at the wheels with just headers, cat back and a tune and it feels every bit as fast (if not faster) as the stock Z06 did when I test drove it.

I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago.
I ended up buying the GS, which cost about 4 grand more than some of the used Z's i was looking at.
At the end of the day i wanted something that was reliable, stock, low mileage, with warranty. The GS fit the bill on all of that. I loved the Z, as you can see my username, but as time went by and it was time to finally buy a vette, i couldn't buy a car that was 40 grand, with mileage already up there, with no warranty, then an engine problem occured and i had to shell out money on a car that was "new". Those days of fixing cars every weekend are over for me.

You summarized my EXACT deduction on going with a GS
