Close enough. It's a quote from George Orwell.

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

Fitting.

Pet peeve of mine..........I live in AMERICA, NOT Merica or Merika. Until someone officially changes it, this land has always been the United States of AMERICA!
And God have mercy on all of the souls who died serving this great land.
Happy Memorial Day.

Far too many today take our freedom for granted and are willing to give it away bit by bit. Thank God for those gave their lives so we can live our lives free. God Bless America!

At least the original poster only dropped an A. This jerk messed up the whole name and put it on an American car. What a slap on every soldier's face.
It's spelled A M E R I C A
And I served in the US Navy in Viet Nam for this country and I'm proud of it.

Agree 100% (and thank you for your service!)

We're NOT a nation of idiots that can't even pronounce our own country's name, so please don't help further this disrespectful practice.

Yes and no. The Quote is attributed to George Orwell in a lateral way, who was referring to Rudyard Kipling in saying that "...He sees clearly that men can only be highly civilized while other men, inevitably less civilized, are there to guard and feed them."

To which the essayist Richard Grenier paraphrased Orwell's thoughts on Kipling as the popular phrase you quoted.

And there you have it.

Cool video. Hate the thread title. Expected to see a low life redneck with no teeth in a trailer park holding a shotgun.

Well son, that's about as disrespectful as you can get. Not your plate........your attitude. One of these days, some veteran bikers or someone else who happens to value this country is going to have a go round with your car. I can almost guarantee it. And if you think it's amusing, it's not. BUT it's your right to do it and that's what so many citizens have died for. So you can express your "contempt" for this country.

God bless you for your service. I served in the medical corps during the vietnam war but it was winding down and I did not go into combat. One of the lucky ones. It bothers me to this day that others had to fight and die and I didn't. Not that I wanted to but I would have.

Combat or not, you served. Hold your head high because you didn't run to Canada. And thank you for both the compliment and your service as well. We're all brothers.

It was the luck of the draw. Either the America (CVN66) or the JFK(CVA67) was going to be deployed to Vietnam. I was on the "Big John" doing Med cruises while my brothers were over there. I am very proud to have served this great nation.

God bless America
