Default New Vette = leaf spring bolt rubbing

Hey all I just got an 08 vette with the z51 package. I already took it to a track day and by the end of the day the rear leaf spring sounded like a mack truck. Took it home jacked it up and noticed the plastic was falling off and it looked like an aftermarket lowering bolt. Greased it up and no noise...for now.

2 questions...

1. What happens when the plastic bushing all wears off...metal on metal?

2. For those of you that drive hard often what bolts work the best?

thanks!!!

The aftermarket ride height lowering bolts are a novelty item as best, and have yet to see any them hold up for long either. The thin end rubber/plastic sections just wear/crack to fast, and there was a reason that the OEM have thick rubber end sections instead.

As for the salt in the wound for you, the factory rubber end ride height bolts are only sold with the springs themself, so if you are trying to find a OEM set, then good luck finding a used pulled down set.

To add, having the full length of suspension on a high speed track is really needed, so the lowering bolts are really a steep in the wrong direction. Don't get me wrong, you still need to have adjustment in the corners to corner balance/set over all ride height, but the ride height bolts are going to take a pounding, and its the OEM's that you want in place since they can take this punishment.

Yes, but if you are pushing the car hard enough on the track, then think about going to a coils over system that is fully adjustable instead.

It makes tweaking the car for different tracks/track conditions a way lot easier/repeatable!!!!

Only sold with a whole new leaf spring. Which would make me think it has no part number.

You can buy the bolts without having to purchase the entire spring.
