Default slight whine

I have a 2008 Z51 A6. In the morning when I start my car I hear a noise like a whine. The noise is similar to those toys we used to have when I was a child, a Top that spun and had holes on the sides so it would make a whine from the air.
I was under the hood but did not seem to be coming from that area. When there is any outside noise present I cannot hear it because it is a quite whine. It does it when the car is idling and not moving.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

It could be your car telling you it wants a louder exhaust and headers?? Just saying.

Yes ... If it's the same thing. Very occasionally upon startup, I will hear a soft "ooooo" in the key of A for a couple of moments. Like you, I have no idea what it is. Doesn't seem to be a problem though. So I just attribute it to her personality.

I'm not real familiar with this "torque tube" thing and am wondering if it can be in it or the torque converter because they seem to be the only things spinning while the car is standing still. The car runs fine.

I have what sounds almost like a vacuum leak that comes from under the car near the mid point in the car. Car runs great, mpg is great, acceleration, etc seems normal so I do not worry about it.

Next time you hear it, open the hood and get your ear near the alternator. That 's my guess.

Could be your alternator, when you hear it unplug the alternator and see if it disappears.
