Shocked with new tires
Guys, I am in a state of shock with my new tires! My '08 Z51 coupe has 65000 miles and I wanted a third set of tires. After research, I decided to go with Firestone run flats rather than Goodyear again. WOW! This is a different car, I can actually hear the exhaust tone rather that tires noise. These Firestones are so quiet. Compare the Firestone to Goodyear and Michelin on tire rack, you will be surprised. So glad I went with Firestone, nice handling and quiet!! I will see how the hold up!!

They do make the car more enjoyable. I couldn't believe just how much until I put the Firestones on mine.

Nice choice you made, been using them for years, and truly love them.

I picked up Bridgestone RE760's for my camaro, really like them a lot. Great traction in all conditions. I think Firestone/Bridgestone have really gotten their act together since the Ford Exploder in the 1990's and are making great products.
How much better is stoplight/straight line traction? I run 28lbs cold in the rear on my goodyears and still is spin city in 1st and 2nd. Sometimes I can get them to hook great, other times I just make smoke.

I'm really happy with my Firestone Firehawks as well.

Hope it lasts for you. Tire noise is the single biggest reason I went to my Caddy-Vette after 3 real Vettes. I just couldn’t take the tire noise any more. It was always a bunch quieter after new tires, but the quiet never lasted more than 10,000 miles or so. With the CTSV, tires get slightly noisier as they age, but even with tires near replacement, it’s much quieter tire-wise than the Vette on brand new tires. That said, I admit that I never tried Firestones. Swore off them back in the 1970’s after personally experiencing the Firestone 500 horror stories. Perhaps it’s time to give them another try.

Just Replaced Mine at 35,000 Miles
They remained quiet with good handling right to the end. I could have even got a few more miles out of them. This was my third set on C6 Corvettes.

where is the best place to purchase the FS RF'S. I've been a 'discount tire' customer forever.....never tried tirerack......looked online at Firestone dealers sites and they seem to nickel and dime you for everything, making them equal in price to Bridgestones at Discount Tire...... any advice is appreciated.

I had a set of Firestone Firehawk RWLs on my 69 Mustang convertible and loved the tires. They provided a nice vintage look with the RWLs and were a great handling and riding experience. When they wore out I was going to replace them with the same tires, but found that they no longer had the name "Firestone" on the RWLs because of that stupid flap with the Ford Exploder. I switched to B.F. Goodrich TA Radials, which is the tire most of the vintage car crowd uses and, boy, what a step down. The Firestones were twice the tire the B.F. Goodrichs are. I wish they would put the Firestone name back on the Firehawk tires again. I'd dump these TA Radials in a hot second.
