Default Shift linkage

Pulled into parking space, apparently shift lever linkage broke, car stuck in reverse, had to be towed to service garage. If indeed shift linkage, what kin of cost/labor can I expect?

Is your car manual or automatic? If manual then remove the console and remove the shifter to inspect the pinch collar. If you are lucky then tightening the pinch collar (torx 45?) could resolve your problem. This gets tightened considerably
If the ujoint gave out then transmission must be dropped to replace the linkage.
