What happened to the Corvette Wave?
When I bought my first Corvette back around 2003, the Corvette Wave was a custom I thought was really friendly. I had a 69 C3 Vette and would get smiles and waves from all other vintages of Corvettes, with the exception of spotty response from C6s. I figured the C6 guys were either unaware of the custom or were being uppity because they had the latest generation of cars. I was just out in my C6 today and passed a C5 headed the other way. A pretty bright metallic blue convertible. I waved. No response. Later in the trip I passed a bright red C7 headed the other way. Again, I waved and no response. Is the Corvette Wave dead? I don't want to be the only fool out there waving at others.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I do it and usually get one returned if they see me. That is when I am in the C6.....not very often in the C4. Lol

I still do it and usually get waves back. I even wave and get them back when in my Avalanche, with C-6 front plate. I do live in a small town, sure that helps to. Also give and get them when out on road trips.

Its funny because I was gonna come home and start a "Whats up with the C7 guys?" thread as I have passed several of C7's and thrown up a wave to get nothing in return.

After spending all that coin on their C7, maybe they've got nothing left to give in return. BTW, is there any rule for how many fingers you must hold up when executing the Corvette Wave?

Too many younger Vette owners that don't know about the tradition. Question gets asked here about 2 or 3 times a year.
I wave and get one back about half the time. No longer such a big deal to me whether they wave back or not.

When I was young (I'll be 65 in August) all sorts of cars that were the same or similar would wave -- usually sports cars like MGs, Triumphs, Vettes, etc. Motorcyclists have always waved and still do for the most part.
Because I live in a rural area, I don't see many Corvettes on the road. But when do, I would say probably 2/3 will wave.

I wave at every Corvette I see. Most wave back, some don't. I don't lose any sleep over it.

Passed several vette's today , C3, C4, C5 and a C6, got a wave from each of them. Even got a honk and wave from a vintage fire truck

Those guys are clueless or stove up with attitude. The wife and I took a road trip from North Georgia to Myrtle Beach SC, to Valdosta and back to North Georgia. Took a count and it was 19 C7s we passed and waved at.
Not one wave in return.

Not all C7 drivers are snooty. I'll say it again, I wave at every Corvette I see, and my DD is the green one, <----- nowadays.

I wave at them all, some wave back and some don't! Either way it doesn't bother me!
