I'm one of the lucky ones that mine doesn't get that hot.

I found the same thing when I first drove the car home (1250 miles)
after the purchase.
I installed heat insulation under the console and on each side of the console tunnel on each side of the seats.
The insulation has foam squeezed between aluminum foil. It doesn't stop the heat completely, but it brought down the temp to the 80's in the console instead of 110
after the purchase.

GM owes all of us some proper insulation UNDER the driveline tunnel from the dash to the tai lights, and if necessary, on top of the tunnel as well. The exhaust runs on either side of the driveshaft all the way back and creates incredible heat underneath which transfers to our inner leg for driver and passenger. Keeping the fan on, A/C or not (and) having the Recirc button pushed helps some as it draws hot air from inside the car. When using the A/C, directing some air to the footwells also helps. As you noticed, anything in the console also gets hot. I wouldn't leave anything in there that might melt, candy, ink pen etc. Get a dual travel buddy cup holder for the side of the passenger hump so your drinks won't get hot too. I've insulated the OEM cup holders and the inside of the console. Helps a bit but not nearly enough. In hot or warm climates (and) not so hot climates, the A/C is your go to friend, even if it's just on low and directed to the foot wells.
I'd love to have everything necessary underneath removed, exhaust, driveshaft, whatever, so a blanket of the best insulation I could buy could be applied. And then, I'd love to have the interior gutted so another sheet of insulation could be installed but...that would cost quite a bit.

My manual tranny 05 C6 got a little warmer than my automatic tranny in later C6s. I hardly notice it in my 012 A6. However, I do make it a point not to put any chocolate candy in the console.

I insulated under the console and along the sides of the tunnel, installed Elite Engineering tunnel plate with heat barrier and also a thermal blanket wrapped around the exhaust. Total heat reduction from this approach is significant. Console only gets mildly warm now and radiant heat in the footwell is pretty much gone. All totaled some fairly expensive solutions to the problem, but if you address both interior insulation and external shielding you can resolve a good portion of the problem.

I may not do any more now
