If anyone has had a problem starting a 2008 or similar C6 Corvette, mine had a problem and was stranded several times for hours on end. The issue started when the outside temperature was over 85 and the car sat in the sun. When you pushed the start button, only the check engine light would come on and then the gauges would peg. This would happen over and over without starting. After taking it to the dealer and after several days, we found it was a bad starter. Apparently when it was hot, the brushes on the starter would swell and block the starter from activating. Changed the starter and problem solved.

When you drive the car the starter gets very hot every time. Outside temp or not it is bolted to the block next to the exhaust manifold and you can't touch it. I think the dealer that told that story is full of it.
