Fairly easy. The hardest part is getting the old assembly off the car especially if it has been on for a while. Some muffler shops just take a saws-all and cut them off which I'm not a big fan of. It is also much easier if you have a lift but you can do it the cardboard on concrete method too. There is not much telling how much time it will take you because of the removal process. Plan on about four hours if doing it yourself, maybe sooner if you are lucky and pretty handy.

Thanks for the information. Have a four post revolution car lift so access is easy but stock exhaust is seven years old so that will be a struggle.

It's really easy to remove the stock exhaust..1-Drop the sway bar on the drivers side.2- loosen the clamps on the X-pipe.3- take the bolts out of the hangers, and then the whole unit will come off in one piece...Good Luck. You made the right choice with going with Bola's..

I did a cat back several years ago. I dropped the pipe at the cats. You may find it easier to do that to get more room. Those that have done axle back can chime in.

Not too hard at all (if you have access to a lift). Hint: It is easier if you drop the rear sway bar.

It would be more difficult if you tried to do it just on jack stands. You need to get the car up high to maneuver the OEM exhaust pipes over the axle for removal.

Hint: IF you have an automatic, the left (drivers side) over-axle pipe will not clear the shift cable assembly with the transmission in Park. Move the shifter to Neutral and the pipe will slide right out.

Check out my DIY for my Borla ATAK install. I have a C6 Z06, but the process should be pretty similar. Hopefully the photos & diagrams are helpful for you.

Default Borlas

Easier said than done. Getting the new muffler pipes to line up is a bitch. After three hrs I gave up, called Midas and took them up there. 45min and $75 later the job was done, of course they do it every day and know all the tricks.

Sooooo you may want to give a muffler shop a call.

Good Luck they sound awesome!

Mine was extremely easy. I just took it to my local long time muffler shop, and 75 bucks latter I was off. Not having the correct tools, or lift to do the job I couldn't get up the nerve to do it myself.

BTW, they didn't cut the old one off.

I have an A6, and the Tech said he had to put the shifter in neutral to get the old pipes off and the new ones in place. Also the pipes were side specific on the set I have. FYI

I had my changed twice,07 and my 08 both auto. The young man at the shop had my stock off and the new Stringers on in 45 minutes. Like others have said it needs o be on a lift. Or it will be a PITA....

You have a choice (IMHO): Lift or Hacksaw. See my DIY.

Hell, just changing the axel back is a piece of cake. Only one sentence on the instructing's for stringers is to remove the plate on the base vette that is on the passenger side and reform it so the cross over pipe does not rub against it...Very good DIY you posted....

Changed mine using jack stands. Obviously you have to get it as hi as possible to R&R. You do not have to put it in neutral to remove over axel but if it makes it easier to remove the left side go for it. I did not and I had no issues. Took about 2.5 hrs. to loosen everything up, remove back to Cats and install new exhaust. If a shop can do it for under a $75.00, let them do it unless you have nothing else to do.
