Default Local guy loses his life

A businessman local to where I live lost his life this weekend in his Vette. 2010 ZR1 caught fire and they're saying that alcohol played a part in his not being able to get out of the car in time. He died inside the car.
Rest in peace brother Michael.

Well, if you're going to drive drunk, bad things are going to happen. Sad story, but 100% preventable.

Did the car just catch fire or was there an accident involved?

Where is the link to the story? Why post some story without the story?

Very sad story, but still don't know what was burning or why it caught fire. Something about dripping plastic which could be plastic already on fire, from what, who knows.

I get the impression he was continuing to drive while the car was on fire... not realizing it was on fire (perhaps due to being impaired, but who knows, really).

Sounds like investigators do not know what caused the fire.

Sad indeed. Glad no one else was involved.

Wonder what caused the fire? Don't think I have heard of this before.

Sad story but let's stick to the facts. Car caught on fire. His bac was .17, so yes he was leagally drunk. Should not have been driving at all, period. It sounds like he passed out from the smoke or fumes and maybe he would have been able to get out, maybe we will never know. My condolences to the family, it sounds like this man was a good guy who made a terrible decision and that decision might have cost him his life. Say a prayer no one else was killed based upon his decisions. Rest in peace.

So sad! Alcohol consumption and driving don't go well together and frequently ends badly. I hope there is an insightful investigation to determine the cause of the fire. My prayers are with the family.

From the noon news reports, they feel he was involved in some kind of accident that caused the fire. Several witnesses tried to get him to pull over, but he didn't for some reason. They think he passed out from the fumes and the car rolled to a stop. Passers by tried to get him out, even used a fire extinguisher to try and break the glass, but couldn't. He was obviously out and couldn't pull the release to open the door. 4th degree burns over 95% of his body. A terrible situation all around. But definitely a reminder to never drink and get behind the wheel of any car.

Legally drunk? The guy was toast. Blotto. Bad things happen to bad people.
