is it operator error ? lol! got home from picking up the little guy, took him out of his seat, and the two lights on the rear view were not off. i checked, the buttons are off for the courtesy lights.
it is an 05, if it matters.
thanks

Every C6 owner has that problem at least once.

The problem is that you can unknowingly touch that button with your knee which turns them on and to further frustrate you, hitting it again doesn't turn them off right away...it takes awhile. Not knowing this causes you to hit the button over and over with the same disappointing results. Press it once and check it in a few minutes.

I have an 2005 as well, sit in the car and shut the door with nothing running. The two buttons on the mirror should be in for off, push the dimmer switch inward at the left side of the wheel. You should see the mirror lights turn off. If they don't push in the buttons again on the mirror and try pushing the dimmer switch in again.
That's should correct your problem.

I've never accidentally hit that switch except when cleaning the dash, but It should time out in ~20 minutes, regardless of which buttons were hit.

Mine pulled this annoying stunt on the first drive back from the dealer's.
I find all these lights to be enormously bothersome, useless and just one more waste of a battery. I wish none of them existed.
At least I figured the 'button' out myself and then, after the silly long dwell time, they finally did turn off.

Seriously, I'm thinking the people who can manage to hit it either don't have automatic seat movement to a good exit position or have the seat all the way forward and don't move it back when getting in and out.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I try to pay attention while cleaning the dash now.

thanks for the responses. funny thing yesterday morning as we were about to head out to the woodward dream cruise, i washed her, and left the keys in the cup holder. go figure the car doors would not open! wtf! fortunately got a new dummy key cut to open the hatch. replaced it with the new battery from the dealer, and called it a day.
priceless!
