Default Has anyone repaired a broken key fob? Key loop snapped off

I've got a 2007 Vette and the little plastic loop that holds the fob to the key ring has snapped off. I had the same thing happened two years ago, and I had to purchase a new key fob. Now it's happened again. I have to imagine that anyone who carries their key ring in their pocket every day will eventually have this issue. Has anyone figured out how to repair this rather than purchase a whole new key fob to just replace a little piece of plastic?

I just have bought a used one off of eBay and swopped the inside electronics over from the broken one to the new one.

I have broken both my '07 Colorado fobs and just bought "cases" to put them in.

No need to pay $100 for a fob. Amazon has them for like $50-60 ish. I bought one for my 07 last year because the same thing happened.

Maybe you should think about shopping for a used 08 fob.

Looks like you have gotten good advice. I just want to commend everyone who has posted so far for not spelling fob in all caps as if it were an acronym. Don't know why most posters use all caps.

I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a repair? I'd still rather not spend $50-60 for a plastic case.

I just bought two fob cases for $12 each from flea bay. Here is a forum link that explains what to search for....

Many auto parts stores, such as O'Reilly's, have replacement cases for few dollars. They are made by Dorman (or supplied through them) and usually parked on the counter near the register.

I just keep my fob in my right pocket and keys in my left pocket. Anyone else do it this way?

Probably because there is an acronym, "FOB," meaning "freight on board."

This may be a first; someone complementing the spelling/grammar/and or usage of any thread's posters' wordage.

If you like to keep the fob on a ring with your other keys, that's fine.

If you are using the fob to also hold your emergency trunk key, not so fine.
If you happen to lose/forget/lock inside the car; the original fob, then you've got problems. Lots of stories there, most of them bad.
