Default Reverse Lockout Solenoid Issue

I have done a search on here and google as well and cannot really come to a conclusion.

Since I've owned the car in april I've had this issue 3 times, until now.

The problem is that I can access the reverse gate while driving above 3mph. After a couple seconds of moving the shifter back and forth between the 5/6 gate and reverse I can feel the solenoid react and slowly lock it out. then its fine and works normally for however long.

Over the last few days its been everytime I drive the car. Ill go to shift into 5th and find that i am over in the reverse gate. After stopping and going a few times it will function as normal. So its as if the solenoid unit it "sticky"

Should I just replace the solenoid unit?

I agree with Rick...it would bother me if I could slip over into reverse by accident.

Ditto on changing it out, since it's easy enough to do, and should be able to find a new one for around $60 (gm part #12523300).

Also, since the solenoid is pretty much a sealed unit, it's not like you can get into it to clean up the plunger with electrical contact cleaner to begin with to solve it faulty problem.
