Default Do i need bigger brackets for z51 sway bars?

I just bought z51 sways for my base vette and went to put them on but the stock brackets that hold the sways on wouldnt fit. I got them to somewhat fit but the screws would only go one or two turns in because the brackets were sticking out. Am I doing something wrong or do I need bigger brackets?

The brackets should fit. Make sure the bushing is in the groove and set all the way in.

I put z51 sways on my base Vette. Used the end links that were on. No issues.

If you are using the old base sway bar bushings that is the problem.

You should have got new bushings with the sway bars that you will use with the factory brackets parts.

Hence the Z sway bars are wider OD, and need the bushing that are larger ID for them instead.

Yep ! Brackets are the same, you need bushings that have the correct inside diameter that matches the outside diameter of the bars you have.

It's the bushings. I just drilled mine out a bit so that they were tighter than normal on the bigger bars.

The "ears" on the bracket must be flat and mated to the frame , the bolts will pull tight when the bracket bottoms onto the frame. This will compress the bushing to the correct tension on the bars.
Please measure the bar outside diameter and bushing hole diameter. It should be very close to the same measurement. IE,, 7/8 inch bar,,,,, 7/8 hole plus or minus a little. if you find a big difference you may have the wrong bushings.
