To Run Flat or to Non Run Flat, that is the question
#81
I'm very aware of this, and drive gingerly in cold weather (meaning I don't stomp on it from a stop, give extra margins for stopping and take corners slower than in summer). I think most who have these tires (both C6 and 7) do the same.
Basically, these tires are stickier when hot, and slicker when cold, than the either of the stock tires, or say, the Bridgestone Potenzas.

Below 50, there is a noticeable decrease in traction (compared to the super-sticky of warm/hot temps), but I drive them until freezing, but not below (they can crack below 20).

They say don't even store your car below 20 .( super sports zp)
In Michigan it can go below -20
I think I will cancel my order and do more research on what
To get .

I would hope the Pilot Sport A/S ZP would be good in the cold. Not that it ever gets cold here. They last a long time and ride good and quiet too.

They are a completely different tire, and I would recommend them for all year street use. They wear well, too.

Everyone is talking about performance, but I have always been interested
in the "softness" of the ride. I read, PM'd and talked to members for
three months before I ordered and finally bought a non Z51 with the
MSRC (mag ride) option as that supposedly provided the "softest"
ride. It doesn't.
I finally got my car and to me, it rides like a tank. Maybe it was because
the temperature was in the low 40's and the tires were harder. Maybe
it's the stiffness of the run flats. Maybe it's because the car is brand new and the shocks, etc are stiffer and I need to give it some more time.
If not, I'm faced with going with trying to mitigate the harsh ride by going with non run flats or even switching to 18 x 19. I'd rather not do either,
but I'm beginning to panic.

Did you not test drive one before purchasing? Ride is a very subjective thing, and these are sports cars after all.
My 2013 GS (without the magnetic ride) rides like a Buick (OK, maybe not that soft) compared to my previous Nissan 370Z.
I switched to non runflats three months ago and the ride and noise improved a bit over the OEM Goodyears.

Other posters, however, that owned a base C7 (18 x 19) and then bought a 2016 non Z51 with mag ride, said the mag ride rode softer than their base. So, that's what I bought. Maybe I can solve the problem with non run flats, but from your experience, it doesn't sound like there would be much of a difference.

These are Corvettes we are talking about here right ?
If I wanted a plush ride I would have bought a Taurus or a Lincoln
Its like the guys that talk about getting 30 MPG ... did we really buy a Corvette to set the MPG record ?
Ride is very subjective and I for one am very impressed with how my C6 rides with my Michelin RF and would not hesitate to take it on a long road trip
Just my 2 cents ......

I may have been premature in my comments. I'm waiting for the XPEL installer to finish so I can take it out on the interstate. So far, I've only driven it
twenty-one miles.
Yes, I realize it's a sports car. I don't know if these qualify, but I've owned a Nissan 280ZX, a Toyota Supra, a Lexus SC400, and my DD is a BMW 335i. I didn't feel like I was being beaten to death in any of those. Maybe I won't feel that way about the C7 once the suspension loosens up a bit.
twenty-one miles.

Monday having new OEM 2014 chrome 5 spoke wheels and with super sport
ZP package put together for my c6 ( base stingray setup)
Yes the super sport zp are summer only not to be driven in temps under 40 which is ok .....but I am reading that they can crack setting in your garage in sub zero temps .
? Is this true . I'll put car away November until spring ( Cold Michigan winters )
As long as I don't drive or move it I would think all would be good . No cracks ????
$1500 lot of money if they crack in storage.

Yes, they have been reported to crack at 20 or below, even if not moved . Store the tires above that .
