Default 2008 Options Unvailable

I just purchased a clean 2008 base model 1 LT with stick, Red Tint and Chrome Wheels. I picked up the car yesterday and it's nice to drive -amazing ride for Corvette and still handles. It doesn't even rattle like Corvettes I am used to.

Anyway, the car always locks itself and I'd like to override that feature. The problem is that I can't program the DIC with either key FOB. I get "OPTIONS UNAVAILABLE".

I've read about reprogramming the fobs but the first thing that's mentioned is to disable the autolock feature which I cannot do since "OPTIONS UNAVAILABLE".

The previous owner thought the fobs might have weak batteries but the remotes all seem to work and start and run the car. I don't remember why he said that.

I would like to personalize my car as well. Perhaps I cannot because I have the base 1 LT package? I just didn't see any mention of that in the manual but there is mention of a memory package(?).

So what can I personalize on DIC and how can I do it?

Thanks for your help.

Try youtube there may be some helpful videos, try other blogs, call gmc, they must have some type of tech support, call Chevy service. Good luck ....

Only FOBs programmed as #1 and #2 can access Options.

So you must have FOBs #3 and #4.

You'll have to reprogram them to be 1 and 2.

Here are some forum posts on your issue. Note that after taking a look at the fob reprogramming procedure, I am guessing that disabling autolock is to make sure you don't get locked out half way through the procedure. I think rolling down the window, which the procedure calls for, would probably suffice.

Info on your issue;
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...available.html

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...t-working.html

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...available.html

Here is the procedure for reprogramming the fobs. You will need to do the long procedure so yours can be fob one and fob two I believe. This is from the stickies at the top of the page.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tructions.html

And a similar procedure with a slightly different layout and more information;
http://www.ls2.com/boggs/c6/C6FobProgramming.pdf

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

OP, disregard this post. The information you need is in the post below the one containing this unneeded information.

PatriotsGuy, I know you were trying to be helpful, but either you haven't owned a C6 long enough or you haven't been here on the forum long enough to be helpful.

Rick is probably correct, and I think you'll need to do the "Long" reprogramming which initially wipes out all fobs. I'd do it in a dealer's parking lot, just in case something goes wrong they can just push it into the shop.
And until you reprogram, you need to start wondering who out there has your other fobs...

Thanks, I've read all of the above except the PDF. The first one says to disable the autolock.

Tomorrow the sun will be out, so I'll try the PDF or ask the dealer for an estimate. But holy hell.

a 1LT car does not have the memory option available and some things in your car are not designed to be functional

No. Options and Memory are different things. Even 1LT has "Options".

What makes you think a 1LT car doesn't have memory options? Do you have a 1LT car or know someone who does?

Reread your owner's manual and see what it says about those options. Tell us the page number in the 2005 owner's manual that says the 1LT car doesn't have those programmable options.

Good Luck with the reprogramming of the Fobs for #1 and #2.
Then you will be able to change your options as mentioned.
Here is the page with that info.

After reading that procedure, you really do need to be sober.

Hopefully you have the key for the rear hatch lock. That can be a pain to get in and turn the key. Dirt seems to collect in the tumbler and make it tough to get the key in.
WD-40 work good to clean out the tumbler if it is filled with dirt.

Good Luck
Let us know if you have success.

I called the local dealers, they charge $35-$60 to do the job.

Appreciate all your contributions. Thanks.

I think he may be referring to "memory package" which a 1LT doesn't have.
