Bad Day at the Car Wash
So the other day I was at the car wash drying and detailing my car. I was cleaning up my last wheel on the passenger side (headphones in listening to music) when something told me to get up and as soon as I did here comes a Ford explorer speeding ACROSS THE ENTIRE LOT and hit my car as I had only a couple seconds to jump out of the way. I was in shock, but I immediately start taking pics and called the cops. I told the guy and his passenger to stay away from me before I choke slam you (yes there were 2 people in the car) smh! cops came did there report and it goes to the shop Monday to get checked out. My question is with something like this can I get my whole car painted? I don't want to have a 2 tone looking car.

I doubt you can get a whole car repaint. Choose a good shop and it should match perfectly.
Good luck with the repair. That sucks!!!!!!

Sorry to hear this......Thank God you didn't get hurt.........A good shop will make it look like new..... I'd be more concerned about whether it hit hard enough to damage any front end/ steering components.... And remember to negotiate some diminished value with the insurance company...do not take their first offer!......once this hits your car fax you'll def get less when you sell/trade....... And don't settle for the local insurance company repair place unless you have checked them out.......

you probably don't want to paint the whole car. Keep it as factory as possible. Check around and find the best shop in the area. I good painter will get it right.
You might also claim "diminished value" for your car and get additional settlement money over and above the cost to fix it. Your Corvette won't be worth as much if you try to sell, that loss should be compensated. I also understand that repair adhesives are different than the assembly adhesives, this will be discovered by future inspections.

I don't believe anything is wrong with it mechanically because I was able to drive it on to the flat bed (it would be hard to watch them just hook it and pull it) and I backed it off and parked it at my house. I was informed about the diminished value so I will discuss that with USAA. I just hope everything turns out Ok with the repairs. Thanks!

You had an angel on your shoulder telling you to get up! Glad you are ok.
As others have said, looks like door / frt qtr panel. I suspect that a top-rate shop will make the repair cleanly for you. As others have said, pursue additional compensation for 'diminished value'. That will be a negotiation and I would try to get my facts together on the estimated economic impact (e.g. maybe CarFax can provide you with #'s) to prove to the other party's insurer that you have a sound quantitative rationale.

Should have choke slammed them both and been done with it!!
Now you will be living with this idiotic circumstance for the rest of your life vs living with a smile on your face for choke slamming them for their stupidity.
You have great restraint.
Good luck with your path to complete restoration.

Sounds like your guardian angel was sitting on your shoulder. From the extent of the damage you could have very easily been seriously injured or worse. The car can be fixed back to like new condition by a good shop with Corvette repair experience. There is other compensation that you should be aware of. Diminished Value of the car. After the repair a CarFax will most likely show up on the report. Demand the at-fault insured company compensate you for the now diminished value of the car.

Was the idiot drunk? What excuse could the moron have for smashing your car other than stupidity? I doubt if the will spray the whole car, more importantly how is the frame? Make sure it is put on the frame machine to check!!

something for consideration is buying junkyard parts same year same color - this is a case where that might actually be worth considering. If you can find the right parts the look should be spot on.

Sorry for the problem but all things considered, it could have been much worse.

Reminds me of the time with another car I owned that was less than a year old. Some girl driving a 350Z drove straight through a stop sign right at the perfect time I was driving by, I couldn't avoid the collision. My car's right front wheel was completely smashed in along with the other damage.
It was repaired to as-good-as-new condition, couldn't tell anything happened. BUT, there would always be the accident report on the carfax record. Pissed me off. By the time I traded it in years later, it was a high mileage vehicle, and they didn't seem to care about the fax. I still got full trade-in value.

Just make sure you go to a body shop that mixes their own paint and you will be fine. Too bad you don't live closer to me (N.Y.) I have that front fender sitting in my business, brand new, oem, never put on a car. Would have sold it for $75 bucks.
