Default 2006 silve Z51 silver big brake installed.

So for all those who said "bolt on and straight install", I would like to see a write up from you.
Here is mine.

c6 2012 grand sport silver calipers $320 (if you want info, ask)

Stoptech SS brake lines $50
New OEM semi metallic padlets $free or $80
At Harmon brake company
New Oem replacement rotors $12.69 each plus $16 shipping
ARP 2.5" studs $30
1/2" hub centric spacers $30
5/16" spacers $19

1- removed brake lines
2-removed calipers
3- removed rotors
4- removed hubs - did this so I could install the new wheel studs. Could not do this with the hub on. To remove these i had to remove the lower control arm ball joint.

5- installed the brake lines and bracket
6- installed hub with extended studs
7- installed rotors with both sets of spacers
8- installed calipers
9- install wheels and voilÃ*

Wheels are too offset with spacers. You cannot get the oem z51 wheels to fit without at least 13/16" spacers.
From my own experience that is.

Rotors $ 12.00

And it's Orem sounds like a win.

I hope you bled the brakes as I don't see that on your install
It's a pretty simple job changing out the brakes. I was so nervous first time, but then got pretty fast at it. I used to change pads when I would go to the track.

Yes I did bleed the brakes. Used dot4 motul rbf600. The SS lines gave a much better feel. I have the rears but I don't want to use spacers to make them work. So I need to get new wheels that clear these brakes without having to do the wide body.

Do the c7 base wheels clear without spacers?

Was it worth it after all was said and done?

Would you do it if you couldn't get the deal on the rotors?

Nice score on the rotors @ $12 each! If they are decent quality, that's a steal!.

yes they are an OEM replacement by qualis - not an upgrade/race rotor, but i was not looking for that. Theyre regular price is 129.99 each. They bedded just fine and break fantastic now.
Yes i think it was worth it, just need new wheels now so i dont have to use spacers. It didnt take hardly any time, but to make it work with a base vette turned out to be more than expected just because of the use of 13/16" worth of spacers, which meant longer studs, and now the wheel center is not correct for the steering rack, etc. I would not track the car the way it sits.
wheels will change that.

After 1000 miles or so i will add a comment on the rotors. An iron rotor is not a complex piece. Only thing i think is a must have with a rotor is; if it is drilled, the holes need to be beveled to prevent cracking at the hole edges, but any decent drilled rotor will have this.
