10" wide rim = 295 max tire. Anything more will serve no benefit for traction or handling. Oversized tires will only roll the tires shoulders up off the pavement and cause instability issues at higher speeds. If you want a 305 or wider tire, a wider rim is recommended. Tire rack has the specs and recommended rim sizes for tires.

305's seem to be it, especially if it's a low profile runflat.
I know you can get a 325 on an 11' wide wheel, and this is the widest combo you can fit under an un-modified base model rear end.

street drag radial.M/T made these to fit the factory 10" rim and the shoulders do not roll up on them as this person keeps posting.Probably an old wives tale his mother warned him about.Excellent traction and this other person obviously does not own any or ever driven car with them.I run 2 cars with them and never any issues. Summit recommends a 10" rim for them.tire rack did not make this tire M/T did 305/35/19

The OP listed a 305/30/19. Your response was for a 305/35/19. The 305/30/19 has a wider "tread width". For example: Michelin Super Sport 305/35/19 has a 10.7" thread width that requires a minimum 10" rim. The Michelin Super Sport 305/30/19 has a 11.7" tread width that requires a minimum 10.5" rim. Both tires have the same sectional width at 12.3", but a 1" difference in tread width. That's why the OP needs to check the tire manufacturers specs for proper rim sizes.

I have spoken to forum members who have had stability issues with the 305/30/19 profile on the stock 10" rim. They ended up buying wider rims. I just went through this with my car, but took the advice given to me and have 10.5" rear rims to accommodate 305/30/19 tires.

I agree, the tire size with the 35 profile you put on the stock rim fits the minimum requirement of 10" rim. I am just letting the OP know that a 30 profile is not recommended on a 10" rim. It's very easy to over look this.

I was just going to purchase some new wheels and I have new 305/30/19 Super Sports to put on the rears. I was going with 19 X 10 on the rear as I was told they would work without any issues...I came across this thread and you are indicating they won't work. Question, is there an issue with going to a 10.5 on the rear regarding fitment...base 05 I have.
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike....sorry just did a quick search and found on the Michelin site that in fact they recommend 10.5 - 11.5 width rim for the 305/30/19 tire...Hmm guy I bought from obviously has incorrect info. So my only concern is fitment of a 10.5 wheel of the back of 05 base..will it work?

I have TSW Interlogos 10.5" rear rims with a 65 offset which pushes the rim outward 14mm (away from the car). This is by design to create a wider track and clear larger brakes. I run 305/30/19 Michelin Super Sports in the rear and will only encounter a slight rub at freeway speeds over a hard bump with a full tank of gas and a passenger. The rub is so slight that it rubs the inner fender liner edge. The ride height is stock Z51, which is slightly lower than a base (non Z51). Some have no issues at all. My fronts are 265/35/18 with no issues. The front and rear tire diameters difference are exactly 1", so no issues with Active Handling/Traction control. I also have Bilstein Sport shocks all around which may affect ride height, slightly lower.
If you do not want to take the chance of tire rub using 305's with 65 offset rim. Select a 10.5" rim with more offset, problem is you get into the custom rims which cost, considerably more. Finding the correct rim is half the search, liking them is the other half.
If I had to do it all again, I would of made the same decision!
