OEM NAV Stereo
When I bought my car a Kenwood Stereo is installed and it works just fine, but the car had the OEM NAV Stereo in the rear hatch. The Kenwood doesn't have Nav which I like, so the question is where can I get the original NAV unit tested to make sure it works so I can install it back in my car?

I like the factory NAV system. There are those here that don't, but once you learn how to use it I find it a good system. I also think the BOSE system in my 2013 sounds good. I use my MP3 player the most plugged into the system.
I have no interest ever taking it out.

I just replaced my 13 GS OEM with a Pioneer. My OEM is for sale with the GM 2012 Nav Disk. If interested, PM me...

The OEM NAV unit is not as intuitive as a Garmin, and the graphics aren't the best. The Navigation system itself is very powerful, but it takes time to learn all the tricks of using it correctly.
Storing Memory points for stops on a road trip helps with the destination entry simplicity for sure, and if using memory points to enter destinations, they can be selected while the vehicle is moving.
The best feature by far with the OEM NAV is the integration with the Heads Up Display. All the turns, etc. are right there on the windshield, so you never have to look at the Nav screen while driving.
That reason alone has kept me using the OEM rather than go with aftermarket.
One downside is needing to buy the DVD's for the updates, whereas aftermarket ones have lifetime updates for free.
I'm on my 4th updates, having just recently received the latest version (V-10-2016)
Good Luck in whatever you decide.

I think you would be crazy to put the OEM nav unit back in. Kenwood units with the Garmin interface are 10x better IMHO. Also, you cant program the navi while driving w the factory unit, if that matters to you.
Ive had a Kenwood DNX 9980, 9990, and now a DNN 992 and all were vastly superior units to the ancient factory C6 navi (which is basically the same unit from 05 through all the years).

I like to use the WAZE app on my phone for everything from Navigation to knowing where the cops are hiding. With a good mount to hold the phone I can enjoy whatever stereo I want without having to worry about updates. Just my opinion though.

which model of kenwood do you have? Also, do you have a smart phone with navigation on it? several of them have screen mirroring or even carplay / android auto. You will very likely find that is WAY better than the factory audio.
