Default Head light Protection ??

Hi

I will be driving from Atl to Palm Beach Fla this Spring which is approx a total of 1200 highway miles. This will be a one shot deal maybe twice.

I will be using a Novistretch bra to help protect the nose but what about the headlights?

I was thinking about a clear film. It can't cost much, probably less then the shipping lol.

Any suggestions?

Alan

I guess the usual painter's tape is out. Sounded funny when I thought of it.

This might be worth a look:

Just clean the bugs off at rest areas and gas stops. Find a local car wash near your motel each night. You don't need no stinking bra or laminates. I drove 5,975 miles in 09' over 3 week road trip to the west coast. Not a scratch!!! But got some curb rash backing down a hill in Deadwood SD. this was in my G8 GT.

Put a good coat of wax on it and don't worry.

Just don't follow too close to other cars and stay way back from those gravel semi haulers. You'll be fine. A good coat of wax will make cleaning up the dead bugs easier.

I just keep my lights coated with wax on all my vehicles.
The thin film the factory applies to the lenses can be damaged when something else is glued to them.

There are a lot of Vette owners that like the Novi-Stretch bra for bugs and I plan on buying one.

Go to AutoZone and buy some light tint and cover them since a 1200 mile drive is only a days drive in daylight.

Correct!. Just do as others have said....Put on a few coats of Rejex or wax. I driven my 08 cross country twice with no lens damage (A Little) you can not expect your car to look new if you drive it like it was meant to be.Edit: I now have 72,000 miles on it.

Ah, but therein lies the rub...for a lot of folks on here a 1200 mile trip will double the miles on their car. I made three 3200 mile round trips in my '05 and two 3200 mile round trips in my '11 and, not saying they were chip-less, but you really have to look to find them.
As most have said, put a good coat of wax on the car, use common sense (no tailgating), and drive the bejeezus out of it!

Default Miles?

I drive it plenty but mostly on country roads. Highways give me the *****'s, between road debri like truck tires, garbage, and pebbles it is like an obstacle course.

I second the Lamin-x. It was originally designed for glass helicopter cockpits. They have precut shapes for our cars.
I used it on pretty much all my cars. It comes in colours, tints, and clear. I usually use it on a new car or after polishing the plastic/glass headlight covers. Simple to install if you take your time. http://www.lamin-x.com/Headlight-Film-Covers-s/1815.htm
