Aftermarket wheels v reproduction wheels ??
I am wanting some aftermarket wheels for my C6, trying to decide between the reproduction C7 wheels or the SR1 type wheels
Is there any difference in quality, I know lot of folks run reproduction wheels but just wanting to make sure I get best wheel I can for the money

I was just thinking about posting a thread about reproduction wheels too. I'm a little worried about quality and how they would hold up to real world driving with potholes.
Some of the pictures of ricer repop wheels after collisions are scary.

I am willing to bet they are all made in the same factory in China.
Even OEM wheels are made in China.
You aren't far away...
I have these:

I can hook you up! Make me an offer.

I've got some chrome OE Wheel. They're C7 ZO6 reproductions. The quality seems good. I had a set of OE Wheels on the first C5 that I had and they held up really well.

So I bought a set of C6 cup wheels that have the Speedline stamp and Mexico stamp as well. They came off a 427 Vert. Ive had them on my car for 1.5 yrs with no issues. Are these prone to cracking like the C7 Cups. I'm getting ready to sell them. I went back to the OEM ZR1 wheels.

But you posted in a thread about aftermarket vs. reproduction wheels.

I bought a set of OE Wheels last year and am very pleased. Mine are the Z51 wheel in Chrome. I actually ordered just one to check the quality before I purchased the entire set. All the repro wheels regardless of manufacturer seem to be made in China. Same holds true for GM wheels.

I've had to replace a rear 427 cup wheel, It was cracked in 3 places. It was a Speedline Mexico and date coded 2013. I got the replacement from House of wheels, when I asked if the replacement is forged I was told all cup wheels have always been cast.
(Sorry I also have skipped to a related thread )

I've had 2 sets of repros, 1st was C6 Z06 Chrome repros in standard widths. I purchased them in the FS section, and they ran true, and had no balancing issues or runouts on them. I hit some repaving transitions really hard on some road trips and no damge incurred. I ran them for 8 years, and changed them out due to aluminum oxide pitting at the tire mounting seal, so they were starting to lose air.
I replaced those with another set of repros, purchased on ebay from seller repliawheels. these are a set of C7 black wheels with machine face. I've had these installed without any issues, and flawless after 2 years and 20K miles.

The chrome starfish wheels are pretty hard to find in good shape....You can get the complete set of OEM 2014 chrome wheels from bob for about what one starfish wheel might cost...Good luck...The starfish wheel is a nice looking wheel.

OEM Speedline early production Italy 2010 thru mid 2011
QEM Speedline late production Mexico late 2011 thru 2013
I have yet to see any Speedline wheels manufactured in China
Only the reproduction (aftermarket) ones that I have seen are produced in China
But that is only my observation
