Best intake for GS? Thoughts?
Greetings everyone!
I have a '12 GS w/ headers, xpipe and npp. Is it worth it to swap my intake? If so, any recommendation?

I've heard the best intake (air cleaner) is the one that came from factory.
I have a '12 GS and was looking into it, then people said stock is best.

I don't think there is any gain by changing your intake, the new design (2011-2013) is way better than previous years and flows just fine.

The 12 & 13 cars came with the LS9 (ZR1) air filter from the factory. You don't need an aftermarket air intake until you're pushing significantly higher HP than where you are now.

Have a '12 GS Conv with a K&N CAI
Honestly, if there are any real performance changes they are minimal if at all, what I have gotten is alittle quicker revving and alittle intake noise, that's really about it.........

Not listening to others I went and had the vararam put in mine. As they say, to each his own. I have the stock CAI from my base vette and my GS sitting in the basement. Anyone know what they're worth by the way?

I cut the 2 pieces out at bottom of the baffle, so with a cam and LT's and Borla Stingers it made a hell of a different.

Purchased my 2010 GS with stock exhaust, and Corvette intake. Then added Billy Boat bi-mode exhaust with dead pedal switch. Wanted more, so installed a Halltech Killer Bee intake. Notable hp improvement. Then the check engine light came on... running to lean! Had a custom street tune and wazza... she's a beast. Generates about 480 at the crank!
I think an intake, the right one, can make a difference.

It's really humorous to me when people throw on just an air intake and say it made a noticeable improvement. Even if it did add 10HP, that's barely 2% on an LS3, and not something you can really feel seat of the pants. Heck, the difference from a nice cool low humidity day to a hot humid day could see a much bigger difference. There's plenty of people that love to talk air intakes on LS3s, but if you research, you'll find very few that actually show any benefit on a dyno. And before anyone starts going on about them only making a difference at speed on the road, the Vararam is the only one that can really make any claim to that, and even there I think the science is questionable (I think I remember someone doing a test on a Ram Air f-body many years ago, and the speed required to show adjustment for extra air flow was over 100). I think many people that put on an air intake and "feel" a difference do so because they think they should feel a difference. We've all learned over the years that stock air intakes are restrictive and this was backed up by performance gains on earlier models (C5 LS1 & LS6, C6 LS2), but the factory LS3/LS7 air intake is a great design, especially on 12/13 models with the LS9 filter.

I definitely notice a difference driving my car now during the cooler months than driving it last summer lol.
Who needs an intake? Just drive when its not hot out!
Bam free hp!! Lol

I have a nice Corsa intake set up for cheap if anyone wants one....they look good but I went back to stock.....if the stock set up can take care of 600 + hp its good enough for my LS3....plus it filters the air.......the more air the car gets thru other induction systems is providing less filtration....
