Wowed by wide body look.
I was returning from spending the weekend with some friends who live about 150 miles from me and I was out on Hwy. 99 in CA. I've got a standard narrow body '09 and I frankly didn't think that the whole wide body/narrow body issue was more than one of those "mine's bigger than yours" issues. Anyway, I'm cruising along at 75 mph and I notice this red C6 coming up behind me. He was doing about 80 mph, so I slid over into the right lane to let him pass. I'd noticed as he approached that he had a nerf bar grille installed on the car, and that his car was the same color as mine. As he pulled past I threw up a wave but it was impossible to tell if it was returned because he had blacked out windows, but the car was clearly a GS. Once he was past me I moved back out to the left lane and had a long chance to view the car from behind. Wow! The wider stance, combined with the lowness of the car and the great C6 body design made that GS look like a real brute from behind. I've always liked that low, chunky look on a performance car. I don't know if he had after market wheels on the car that increased the wide track appearance, but I do know that it looked amazing. I take back all my "so what" thoughts about the wide body issue. They do look great.

When I first heard about the wide body discussion I honestly couldn't tell the difference, the base and stock GS look about the same to me other then a slight crease in the fenders.
That's why I ordered the zr8x wide body kit, it makes the GS look like a narrow body lol.

Dyslexia?
The wheels and calibers alone look totally different then the narrow bodies.
They look totally different to me. I'll have to check out the zr8x kit, but I don't know about spending thousands of dollars for a body kit and paint.

I was really set on buying an 08 or newer with under 30k on it.. then I saw a wide body 05 come up for sale.. ended up driving 168 miles to look at it and I was sold even though it had the LS2/50k miles.

Exactly my point from the other thread.
There is a clear difference. It has a wider stance, slightly more accents etc. It's a more aggressive looking car, period.

I had a 99 Triple Black convertible and wanted a C6 convertible. I loved the GS wide body aggressive look and the side gills reminded me of my 69 roadster. The Z06 was out because there was no drop top. The GS has a bunch of Z06 components and the open air option I wanted. So, a little over two years ago I found a new Torch Red 13 GS 3LT for a great price and jumped on it. The only down side to a new GS was the original Goodyear's. They suck!! I managed to squeak out 15,000 noisy miles. Replaced them with Bridgestone Potenza RFT's and with 11,000 miles on them they show very little signs of wear and they are fairly quiet. 26,000 miles in 27 months (Not our DD). I can't keep my a** out of the seat.

I'm with Commander2000, if I were to do a WB, it'd be a zr8x kit! Those are off the hook.......

The 6x looks better, but his GT6X nailed it. If you look at the rear fascia where it meets the rear quarter it flows and doesn't pinch in at the bottom.
If I were to do one I would do the GT6X

When I was shopping for a Vette. I showed the wife a couple that I wanted to go look at. The choice was a base model and a Z06. She chose the Z06 because she said it looked better. I have to thank her for her choice in Vettes when I gave her the line up. Thanks Honey!!!!
