Texas Mile / Headers / Cam Z06 - Video & Pics
I participated in my first, and not last, Texas Mile this past weekend. What a great experience!! I can now answer that question seemingly everyone asks us "so how fast have you had it?"
First, let me say what a great organization the Texas Mile is. They put on a very organized and professional event.
Second, I was very impressed with the other participants. I met a lot of great people that share a common interest. There were no pretensions. It didn't matter what number you ran, or what you drove, everyone was interested in your experience and car.
My car is a 2007 Z06 with Long Tube Headers, Stage III Cam, Vararam and tune. It makes 560rwhp / 492 rwtq.
My best run was 185.9 mph, but each run was progressive. I bettered my speed with each pass. This left me with an itch telling me that had I made more passes, maybe I could have reached 187. That said, my goal was 180, so it was onto Corpus Christi for an extended vacation.
The GPS app, in the video below, had a difficult time keeping up. The second part of the video, on a subsequent run, shows my speedo and gives a better idea of the acceleration. You'll see I lose some mph going into 5th, at 160, as it wouldn't go into gear without double clutching.
(please excuse the caption lenght, as this was my fist video editing experience)
I'll upload some pics later as well.

At the end of the second run the DIC said engine drag control active. Is that a manual trans only feature or auto also? I have never seen that message before. Nice speed.

I took a few minutes to put together a video of my best run. Car currently sits at 462 RWHP, so a nice small bump over stock LS3 level. Took me from around 160-165 last October to 170-173 as seen in this video. Major kudos to 21st Century in Dallas for building me a car that's capable of driving 6 hours, racing for 3 days, and then driving 6 hours home!

I'm finally winding down from a work trip after running at the mile and found your post. I share the exact same feelings and in the 3 times I've been to this event, I've yet to run across anybody that was anything less than friendly and supportive, no matter the made, model, age, or mod level of their car as compared to mine. This is the best group of car guys and gals that I've ever had the pleasure of being around and I plan to continue to attend events for as long as I can.
