Installed my LG Headers today
Well I installed my LG Headers today using my good friends lift , took a lot longer than I thought. ....
Started at 8 AM , old exhaust dropped right out , no problems removing the O2 sensors no problem , maybe a total of 1 1/2 hours taking my time .....
Installed the passenger side header in about 30 min tops , went right up thru the bottom .
Then the problems started ....went to install the driver side , slid right in then installed all the bolts but the last one by the brake booster did not feel right going in no matter what I did (yes all bolts were loose ) .
Took the header back out , chased all the threads and started over .... still gave me a hard time , took at least an hour and a half to get it right
Took my time running the O2 sensor extentions , ran the rear on top of the tunnel , made sure to wire tie them nice and made sure they were not close any hot pipes
Now the real problems start , 1st cat goes right on the header but the 2nd is off by 1/2 inch , take it off debur it put it back on ... still will not go on.
Both the outside of the collector and the inside of the cat look perfectly round .....
So after 2 hours of filling, heating and beating on it , it finally slides up to where it belongs like a miracle just happened. ,
Then came the jig saw puzzle of installing the crossover pipe and the cat back pipes .....
Finally got it all together but it still needs to be lined up and all clamps tightened but after working on it all day we decided to call it a day and get back to it early tommorrow.
I love wrenching and doing my own work but next time I take on something like this I might just pay somebody
Special thanks to Fastone27 for letting me use his lift and talking me down off the ledge when things started to go bad .........

Advanced
I installed mine last weekend with one of my friends and had the same overall install it sounded like with you...everything went smooth as could be until it got to the final xpipe to the muffler.
lmao I will be in the same boat as you with paying someone else to do it for me next time.

Yup. The reason why I didn't buy LG and the vendor warned me on that.
Bought kooks and install was a breeze.
But yeah long tubes are a must on any LS. No matter the brand.

I guess if I was dealing with a one piece x pipe it might have been easier , one less joint to fiddle with

Sorry to hear that Dave, hope it works out well thou. I'm sure it will
This is why mine is staying just as it came from the factory, yeah I had the bug but at my age it just doesn't matter for the use I get out of the car, I enjoy it and the reliability it now has. Not for some I understand as guys like to tinker
good luck and let us know how you like it after the kinks are worked out

Well after getting a good nights sleep and starting fresh , my buddy Tom and I started working on it again at 8 AM today and by 10 AM it was running
After checking for leaks we took it out on the streets of the warehouse district where he has his shop , because it was Sunday there was nobody around .......
We did what you think we did , we let it loose
The sound is awesome and with the CAI intake and the headers it is a power gain that you can feel in the seat of your pants
Even though it was a slight pain in the A%$s to install I am glad I did it
Now to get the tune done

Former Vendor
So Dave and I got his headers completed today. Man does it sound good. Butt dyno tells me there definitely is a power gain. And yes my butt dyno has been calibrated! lol! My LG's are at the shop waiting their turn to be installed on my GS! Now that we used Dave's car as the guinea pig we learned a lot, so mine should go a bit easier.(as I knock on wood!) Mine is a manual so it has the dry-sump engine so I have a bit more to do in draining oil and removing dry sump lines to gain access for the passenger side header. Can't wait to get them on, it's well worth the effort!
