I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 05 if I felt like it was the right car.

I have 180K miles on my original owner '05 and am still loving it! I've had 2 expensive problems - the Remote Control Unit at 80K, and the harmonic balancer at 147K. The "stuck in park" is a nuisance with the automatic but I've learned how to manipulate it fairly quickly when it occurs (about every 3 months). I also had the shifter cable break at about 150K - not expensive but left me stranded for a couple of days. So in conclusion I still recommend it HIGHLY!

Thanks
I was lucky that our dollar was hovering at around 0.93 when I was searching. It was also during the recession of 2009, so I got a great deal on the car as well because they were just trying to reduce the inventory.

As far as the importing, I kept all the documents, etc. If you ever need help on that aspect, just PM me. It seems complicated, but it really is quite easy as long as you have the paperwork in place prior to stopping at the US border on the return to check the Vin # comparing it to the bill of sale and registration that they have a fax copy of 72 hours prior to you stopping there. Once they stamp the paperwork, then at the Canadian border, they fill out a RIV form, ask you for a fee plus the 5% PST, and then your good to cross. You then have to get a RIV inspection at a Canadian Tire store, they send the stuff away, and about 2 weeks later, you receive a sticker that makes the US vehicle legal in Canada.

Getting very close to offering to buy a lemans blue A4/3.15 black top and interior 1SB(3LT) with the F55. The car looks great and only has 32000km, however, it has a SLP Loudmouth exhaust and after taking it for a ride, im not sure if the drone was bad or not. I could definitely hear it but did not drive it for a long stretch on the highways.
Anyone have experience with these systems...do they drone a lot???

I test drove a C6 with the SLP Loudmouth. They are loud and yes my ears vibrated. I moved up to a 05 Z51, so far no regrets.

After owning 3 C3's, I finally bought my 05. After putting it back together and about 1k miles, I love the car. My only wish would be for paddle shifter (A4) or some form of tip tronic. Not a big deal.

Coming from my C5 which I am sorry I sold, I am used to the A4. I always used the shifter like a manual as the A4 has some 'dead' spots which left me coasting waiting for the ideal rpms to arrive.
If I find a 2004 Commemerative in pristine condition before I find the C6 of my choice I think I would buy it over the 2005.

Two weeks ago I took a flight to Salt Lake City from Los Angeles to check out - and ultimately purchase - my first Corvette: a 2005 C6 MN6 convertible in Le Mans Blue. Low mileage, great price (here's to buying outside CA/FL!). Passed independent inspection, clean carfax and GM record, in great shape inside and out. The trip to Utah and the extra paperwork needed for registering it in my home state were totally worth being able to find a car even better than what I was hoping for.

Go for it. You only live once.

I have like only 30k miles on mine. Z51 option with 6speed manual. It's fast as hell, and turns plenty of heads. Magnetic red II, Big improvement over the C5. You'll love the 2005, No issues's yet!!!

I can afford a 2005 low miles well optioned or later years with higher mileage lower trim .. 2005 is probably the way to go. I'm taking a look at one for second time on the weekend. If I can get past the slp exhaust I may pull the trigger !!!

Can't see any reason not to...so many people like to exasperate minor issues that they become pseudo big issues...

You could probably find someone on this site that would trade exhaust systems with you if you find it's to loud for your liking...A lot of people like a louder exhaust..WW

I usually stay away from first year cats but in this case I couldn't find any big reasons to pass up a good find. I picked up an 05 z51,m6 40k yesterday. It's got a few little things it needs, little clips and a visor, things from sitting th the sun. Black on black, like my c5.

The headlights are a problem on the c6... Oddly enough the C5 gets roasted for its pop up lights when it doesn't have the same issues!? Up here in Canada each light assembly costs 1400 bucks to replace ... Plus 13% tax... Another consideration!

Oh yeah, I'd much rather swap out a couple plastic gears than lenses. I did that on my C5 and never thought about it again.

Nobody has any snake oil for the lenses huh? I'm sure replacing them is the way to go but I would like to see if there was something I could do myself short term ...

2500 grit wet or dry (use plenty of water), any compound for clear coat finishes (like 3M Finesse It II), 3" buff pad on right angle die grinder (drill works but takes longer) and finish with new buff pad and any liquid polish safe for clearcot finishes.
