Show up and calmly give him the facts. You didn't authorize him to pull the supercharger so you technically owe him only the analysis time he spent up to that point. Tell him you are prepared to flat-bed the car out right now, with no charges incurred. You are prepared to walk away without further discussion, no harm no foul if he lets you take it immediately. He's probably smart enough to read between the lines and know what's coming if he doesn't let you take it.

Whole thing has me sick honestly. I just stopped by there again. He runs up smiling and saying sorry he got delayed on Sat...... Didn't see that coming. Said He'll get it fixed for me today by the end of the day. Says he will work until 8 and have it ready for me tomorrow ..... Tomorrow ??? WTF .... I asked him what about today and he said well it depends on how late I can be around. I told him I can be there as late as I need to be. He even used the words "I promise" Ill fix it today for you..... Funny I just heard him say that on Friday.
This is such BS...... I am thinking I will go in again around 4-430 before he normally closes. See if he is even working on it.
This is getting scary honestly. Did he mess up my car or something I wonder ? I think I should tape him next time I go in ....

Thanks, I appreciate the support.
Its just he has been doing this same exact song and dance for five weeks tomorrow......
Its like when someone owes you money and have excuses every time you talk to them. Eventually you realize they aren't going to pay you .

Others have already said this but:
1.) Use the voice memo app on your smart phone to record the conversation and go over there and walk him through the entire occurrence ( soup to nuts) day and week by week, so you have the whole timeline recorded. You should be able to record it with the phone in your pocket.
2.) Even if you get the car back, you have no idea what he did. Get the car checked out by someone else. If he did something wrong, get an attorney.

Scanner will tell you the problem, and bank that is not a injector problem (read you have to run some real crap fuel with no cleaning additives long term to start to clog a injector).
Either the fuel pump relay in the engine bay is not getting power/has a bad connection to the fuse block clip and why the pump is not getting power to pressurize the fuel rail/the fuel pump has problems, or if the fuel rail has pressure, then there is a connector on one of the sensors or sensor itself (cam or crank) that is having problem and why the car is not throwing a spark instead.

It's not as simple as it might seem....
Finding a good mechanic is like finding an "auto shrink"; you might go back and have a last heart-to-heart with him and either give him one last shot or drive it away.....

Well this afternoon around 430 I got the run around again..... broken record. When I asked him for an estimate or invoice he clearly stated he done one at all yet. I never signed an estimate. I recorded the conversation.
I made it clear I am coming tomorrow at noon to pick the vehicle up and If it is not operable I am having it towed.
I spoke with local police and the bureau of automotive repair.
Police will come if he flat out refuses to give it back to me. If he claims there is money due and I disagree then its civil. I told them I plan to pay whatever he says I owe him just to get the car off his property. I will then file legal action against him if he doesn't put it back together or if he gives me some crazy high bill.
I'm also emailing him tonight to confirm and to have a record of what has transpired over the last five weeks. I will file a complaint tonight as well with the bureau. They are complaint driven and will only act on my part 7-10 days after complaint is filed.
Such a bunch of BS for the entire hour it takes to put the intake and supercharger back on...... Wow

Just having the car towed out is a slippery slope. I would make sure it's reassembled and running. You yank it out of there in pieces, you may end up missing pieces. Offer an incentive to have it running at the end of the week. Then never take it back! Hard starting as in cranks over slowly or extended crank time until start? Could be as simple as a weak battery and the starter is drawing all the current and not enough current to supply electronics while cranking. Get it back, if still acting up, try a new battery.

dllhg, it sounds like you are taking the right steps. Hopefully, the resolution will be favorable.

4 weeks have already gone by, and that's time you cannot get back. It's water under the bridge. Sounds like they made some kind of attempt to diagnose the issue, but maybe got swamped with other work. Understaffed, lots of other work, and a vette that could take many labor hours and days just to resolve a mystery condition.
At that point, I'd just be nice about it and go in and tell them you'll arrange for a tow and ask what you owe them for their efforts. Maybe get a summary of the things they checked so the next shop already knows what's been tried. Hopefully, they'll either go really easy on you for the bill to diagnose, or they might just let you off free with no bill.
Sometimes I find that just being nice about something ends up resolving disputes rather than getting all pissed and threatening and yelling. These people obviously don't have an answer about your vette. Even though you might be pissed, just go to the shop with a fake smile on your face and act like you're in a good mood and just be cool about it. Because they'll just keep doing the same thing over and over, weeks will turn into months. I'd just try to get the vette onto a truck with the dismantled parts included, cut your losses, and get out. I would think the shop would want if out of their hair anyhow.

You've gotten all the good advice on here already. Usually, it all boils down to money and there is only one real explanation or reason for him to do what he's doing. Whatever it is, just get the car and go somewhere else.
